I liked when he lost his tail and Grubbage and Scummy stuck it on with pine resin. I also like when the tail kept falling off and Grubbage said "Maybe we should have used tar".

Seriously? The snakes were fast, effective hunters, and a lot bigger than him. And it says in the book that he screamed, probably in pain, so they probably didn't bite just his shirt.

But I'm pretty sure that the book says they bit him in the first place. Even if one of them had missed, the other two would have done the job.
