Let's think about this. You with a sail are left to the mercy of the winds and storms and may possibly die due to being thrown off course and stranded for days of windlessness. I with a steam engine can forge ahead, reach my destination quicker, get back on track quicker if thrown off, and am producing beneficial carbon dioxide, and the rather dangerous carbon monoxide........hmmm. <_<
