OOC-
That moment when you're too concerned with Rappy that you forget about Alfhild.
IC-
"I know, numbskull! We're going there now." Alfhild knocked Grenlik down and paid no attention to Daxian as she strode past.
"Join us if you want to."

LT Sandpaw

"Watched by who?" Petu cried looking around frantically. "Wot if the horde really has Bracklew? They might do something horrible to him, we have to save him." The rabbit looked panicked, and he paced the snow unable to keep still.

Ten of the Krah had gathered around Grah. The big bird was swaggering about impatiently, eager to wet her beak on fresh blood. The rest of her flock were off hunting, or scouting, but the scout had said it was only a small group. These ten would be more then enough.

Bracklew nodded doing his best to keep still. His gaunt chest rose and fell noticeably as he breathed. Grunting he stared Rapshade down, unable to understand why he was helping him.

"W-what's in it for you?" He groaned, fighting back a cry of pain.

"I haven't a bally clue. It's just a feeling..." Duncan said, twitching his paws. Petu was right.

--

"Come on, Grah!" Alfhild called.

--

Rapshade thought about that and came to the conclusion that he was confused as well.
The ferret first tried to soak up the blood and then tore the clean half off and used it to tie around Bracklew's wound. He murmured through gritted teeth. "I don't know. I don't know if anything's in it for me. Maybe I won't be so hated."

Groddil

Grenlik stabbed his spear into the ground and used it to lever himself up.
"Aye, chief, 'tis been a while since me spear tasted blood. I'll go 'n' organize th'other scouts. If ye wished, we could try 'n' get th' jump on th' woodlanders..."
Daxian continued to wriggle in his ropes.
"Listen t'me, Alfhild. There's no real reason to keep a good strategist such as meself tied up like this. I'd be much more useful to ye elsewhere, UNTIED!"
Grenlik silenced Daxian with a quick spearbutt to the gut.
"D'yer want me t'gut 'im, chief?"

Ashleg

"He didn't call me Chief, so I can't see why not." Alfhild grinned sweetly and patted Daxian on the head. "I never liked the plans he came up with, anyway. Gut him!"

Groddil

"With please, chief."
The weasel grinned as he severed the ropes with his spear. He prodded Daxian with the sharp point.
"Ye wanted t'be free? Run."
"No...please..."
"Run, ye little worm. Run or ye'll die."
Daxian scrabbled to his feet and backed away from Grenlik. The weasel continued stabbing the spear towards Daxian, shaving off several of the stoat's whiskers. Daxian let out a whimper, turned tail, and ran. He got a few steps before Grenlik through his spear, skewering the stoat through the gut. Daxian half-jogged another two steps and fell flat on his stomach, screaming in pain. He pulled the spear from his back and tried crawling away. When he fell yet again, and Grenlik advanced on him with the spear raised, Daxian rolled under the flap of a nearby tent. A small rat widened his eyes.
"Don't just...sit there, fool. Help me...up. I can make you...rich and...powerful."
The rat nodded, helping Daxian to his feet. The two creatures dashed out of the tent into the snow.
Grenlik noticed the two runaways, and sent two scouts to track them.
"Okay Chief, 'ee'll be dead soon. So, 'bout that ambush..."

Ashleg

"What was that? He'd be dead now if you had just killed him while he was bound!" Alfhild snarled, slapping Grenlik twice across the face.
"I'm never telling you to do something like that again, because you'll most certainly fail. Now let's go, already!"

Groddil

"G-Gah! Sorry Chief, I don't know what I was thinking. I-I'll leave it ta the experts from now on, as ye wish, Chief!"
The weasel saluted again and trotted off back towards the group of scouts near the cabin, rubbing his cheek.

Marching up with a squadron of spearbeasts Fastooth saluted, swirling his lieutenant's cloak and looking a little irritated. He ambled up to Fardan twirling his thumbs.

"Erm, th' vixen says she won' waste supplies on th' tree-mouse sir." He reported stepping to a rather poor form of attention in front of the wildcat. "But when I check in on em some ferret was helpin' 'Im out, so I'm'a thinkin' he'll live."

"Creeaah, who care?" Grah screeched flapping her wings and preforming a running take off. "Fly, kill, feast, we find red earthcrawlers, creeaah fly!" The crows flapped off in the direction the woodlanders had last been seen leaving the hordebeasts far behind.

Just outside the cabin Petu stopped pacing, his eyes widening, his ears sticking up straight like twin spear poles.
"I say fellas, I've got a plan." Petu turned his attention on the five warriors of the search party. Asher and his team, along with Duncan. "Say," He started quickly trying to get his entire unformed plan out in a rush. "Say we managed to get loads of this horde angry, an chasing off after us right. Except they'll only be chasing you folks." He gestured towards the five. "Your at home here right, they'll never catch you and you can keep making them mad. Then the rest of us can sneak in, grab Brack, and run for the hills. What do you think?"

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"You kind of ruined that," Bracklew murmured, "When you betrayed me for no good reason." He shifted his footpaws and they lightly touched the sword that Fardan had left... So close to him.

"Not too bad," Asher thought aloud. "Although if Duncan went with the rest in case you need to fight, my team and I could convince the enemy that they're facing more beasts than us four. They'd probably empty out the entire camp if we're lucky. Though we might not want to do it in broad daylight. Duncan?" he said, asking the hare for his opinion.

"So we annoy them until they chase us, that's your plan?" Duncan laughed.

--

"I know." Rapshade chuckled coldly. "It was for a plenty good reason, though, and a reason which I'm not telling you, or anybody else." He shrugged, having finished tying the thing, and backed up to admire his work.
"You know...Bracklew...I think you're better off without that lazy paw hanging on and hurting you all the time. T'was a burden, I'm sure..." The ferret smiled guiltily and fumbled with his paws.
"Um..."

Hickory

"I don't think you have a better plan," said Asher. "Unless Duncan comes up with something else, I say we go with Petu's plan."

Duncan chuckled. "I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't know how safe it'll be to have a whole horde at our backs. We could try."

Hickory

"Any good squirrel can outrun and outhide a horde," said Asher, flipping his dirk in his paw. "It's just a matter of keeping them occupied. Don't worry about us, all you need to do is get the others to Bracklew. Ava, if you don't mind staying here in case..."

"Not a problem," said the badger, sitting down on one of the worn stools remaining in the cabin.
