Charm held out a small, leatherbound book, which she handed to Gukom, in exchange for two scrolls.
"It's mainly filled with commentary on the actual knowledge the Abbey has of the place, which is buried somewhere in the gatehouse. What it did talk about was that there was supposedly a tunnel straight from Moledeep to a place called Kotir, the site of which Redwall now stands on. Gukom told me that this tunnel was how you got here in the first place, but a badger ended up destroying the entrance. That's why I'm having a squadron of moles dig it out. Anyway, Asher, I've been meaning to give you these."
The otter handed the two scrolls to the squirrel. One was a map of nearby Mossflower, with several markings on it. The other was heavily bound and stamped with the Vigil's seal.
"Your orders are on that scroll. Get your team and go over them. Oh, and one more thing. Due to One-Ear's disappearance, I'm appointing you as Champion of Mossflower and Vigil Second. You're the best warrior we have at the moment, so go show those vermin why. Unless there were further questions, you're dismissed."

OOC: I'll send you the mission orders. :p

"Fastooth," Fastooth answered glaring at the ground. "Will yer let me in, or will we have to shout at each other? I gotta ask ye somethin' important."

"I was never one for Abbey school," Aver admitted twirling his javelin in speculation. "So I'll take ye and Mortembell's word for it Charm. I'll go see if'n Grant's rounded up some o' our mole volunteers."

It didn't take long for the crows to find the battlefield. They landed amongst the fallen, feasting on mammal and crow alike with little regard. Grah however was more interested in finding a particular creature. Turning over Fangfang's body she clicked her beak close to his ear.

"Creeaah, fresh rat, Krah feast." Screeched a crow behind her. Grah bowled the other bird over shaking her head.

"Krah no eat. Grah get earthwalker gift. Bring back yellow rat earthwalker. Breathe life." There were a few mutinous squawks however Grah overruled their grumblings with a few swift pecks. Two of the black birds grabbed up Fang in their talons bearing him aloft while Grah watched carefully. She had a new favorite color, and ever since she had been watching Rapshade she had wanted that purple necklace. She of course had only seen the tiniest glimpse, but it had been enough to focus her entire being.

OOC:

I know it's slight PP on my part, but I figured that the only way Grah would save Fangfang would be because she was motivated. And I didn't want Fang to die just yet. :P

Grinning as he read the contents of the scroll, Asher looked up at Charm. "Great, I'll leave right away."

He tossed the scroll to his squad. "And, uh, good luck with Moledeep."

Unlocking the wallgate, he led his team out into the woodlands.

OOC: Is Aver coming with them, or going with Charm?

OOC-
I was going to bring Fang back and say Chrysanthe stumbled upon the area, but I guess this'll have to do now.
Just know that Grah ain't getting the shinies over Rapshade's dead body.

IC-
"Well, what is it?" Vadoma asked, sticking her snout outside of the tent.
"Come in quick, you're letting all the warm air out."

--

Rapshade stole a double take at Alfhild as Glaser passed.
"...Did y' hear that?" He whispered.

Alfhild clinked her claws together. "Hear what?"

"What that rat said. He said 'e wants a younger leader, and I don't think he's talkin' about Fardan being old. How 'bout you beat 'im up, huh? You're the mighty Alfhild. Surely you won't let that kind of comment pass..?" Rapshade mused, winking cleverly at her.
What the older ferret did not understand was that this was the first step of her nephew's scheme, so she raised a paw in the air and yelled out.

"Glaser!"

OOC: Aver's not a part of the mission orders, but I don't know what you mean by "Going with Charm." She's not going anywhere. :p

Also, Vadoma's going to have her work cut out for her if she wants to save Fangfang. The poor rat's had a cut jugular for hours, so I'm pretty sure he'd be technically classified as "dead."

Charm nodded.
"Good luck with the mission."
The ottermaid locked the wallgate securely and motioned towards the pit.
"No need, they'll be here soon enough. Although, I don't think yer lawn'll be the same again, not with that giant hole in the ground. We're already setting up some ways of keeping the dibbuns out, though."
She pointed to several teams of Vigil soldiers, each carrying a large log through the Abbey's main gate.
"We've got rope and one of yer old 'n' thick tables ta make a pulley of sorts, an' create a lift into and outta the pit. We're bringin' in more logs ta make a barrier around the pit so th' little un's don't fall in. Once the moles manage ta open the tunnel, we'll start moving most of the Vigil through to Moledeep and secure the other entrances."
The otter noticed a group of moles coming out of the Abbey towards them.
"And here are our friends now..."
Drubble Cellarmole had elected to be among the crew, and he shook paws with Charm.
"Burr, zurr h'Abott told oi that you'm wuzz wantin' us'n's, marm. Point oi to 'ee job, burr aye!"
"We need a collapsed tunnel excavated, down in the pit. Gukom should be able to tell you where it is."
Drubble tugged his snout respectfully.
"Us'n's'll get roight on it, marm. Nobeast c'n dig an 'ole like a mole!"
Drubble and the other moles followed Gukom to the makeshift lift at the pits edge. They all crowded onto it, some muttering about heights, as Charm began letting the thick rope slowly down. The lift began its descent, soon thumping to ground. The moles hastily hopped off, following Gukom towards the collapsed tunnel.
"Okay, now all we have ta do is sit an' wait. They'll 'ave the tunnel excavated in no time."

You just hate him, don't you?  ;D
We can make it work by saying it was a sloppy cut that didn't get center.

"Alfhild's top strategist, eh? Priority target, then."

"Very much so," replied Asher. They were at a weapons stash, filling up on arrows. Brush sling his quiver back over his shoulder. "Shouldn't be too hard."

"Clear," remarked Harnam, brushing off a leaf as he climbed down a tree. "The forest is totally abandoned. Vermin are holed up in their camp. We should still keep and eye out for crows."

"Good. Let's go," said Asher. The four continued on towards Daxian's camp.

You just hate him, don't you?  ;D Noooo...I was just saying how severe his injury was. :P
We can make it work by saying it was a sloppy cut that didn't get center. Ahh, that could work.
'T'was part of the plan goin' on in my mind...  ;)

@Sagetip: Neither did I. The only people other than the participants who I've ever seen view it are James (hmm...) and the occasional guest.

Meanwhile, in the lone vermin camp, Daxian's new ally returned with two slain woodpigeons, which he threw on the fire.
"Err, so boss, 'ow're we gonna get dem riches an' power yew said about?"
"Cause, fool, when I'm fit ta actually move wiffout 'urtin' meself, I'm gonna sneak inta Alfhild's camp. Then, I'll play a little game, an' Fardan'll be th' only leader left. Then, ya creeps inta 'is tent an' slits 'is throat. We'll be th' leaders then."
The rat grabbed one bird off the fire and tossed it to Daxian, who began tearing into it with gusto.
"Mmm, forgot 'ow good birds tasted. I reckon if I was tied up any longer, I'd 'ave probly bit th' leg off one o' Grah's crows just ta get a feed."
The rat shrugged, chewing his own meal.
"Well, when we're da chiefs, we'll 'ave whatever we wants ta eat."
"True, very true. Mmf, *crunch*!"
Unbeknownst to the two vermin, any plan they had was about to be shattered...

...Well, excuse this post, then...

Groddodile, you should have Stumbly come so we can do some Dibbun mischief.
