This is the start of a series published by the FS-HC (Forum Self-Help Committee) which outlines various ways to improve your forum self and the forum itself. Enjoy.

To organize the four main points of posting, we've created a neat acronym for you.

P.O.S.T.

Pertinence
Originality
Skeptism
Tense

You'll want to make sure your post is pertinent to the topic, an objective easily completed.

Is your post original? When you write your post, look over it and determine if you have any repetitive words or phrases. Another thing to look out for is clichéd ways of writing. Originality is making your post unique!

When you start a post, it's always a good thing to bring along some contradictory statements. Being skeptical is never a bad thing in debates. Bring up counter arguments to people's statements to get them thinking. It's an easy way to expand arguments!

Finally, keeping a post tense will engage the reader and they will become engrossed in your writing. It's always a good thing to get the reader to keep reading. Dull posts, while containing important information, are easily glossed over by anybody reading it. Exciting, tense posts keep the points at the forefront of a reader's mind.

I feel like this should be in Cavern Hole, as most of it is not really pertinent to most boards other than the Fan-Fiction board and the main Book Discussion boards
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

Hmm, interesting. I'm on the lookout for future installments.

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

The Skarzs

Definitely in RPs and the discussion boards, more interesting posts can lead to more responses.
In the discussions, skepticism makes people think, and if they have something to say, may encourage them to post.

With RP posts, as with in any sort of story, it's necessary to keep the conflict rising. However, that's not always possible. What I suggest, if people have nothing to post, find out what other people are planning in the next little bit of the RP. Then they might be able to help lead up to it, or perhaps help keep people posting. (Contradictory posts may not be necessary for RPs.)
