Yeah James, the only things that I can see from just being a member is the flag thing not working and a couple profile pics not working, but everything else seems fine. What kind of things aren't working?

The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

I will say that things look a whole lot better now than they did earlier, even this morning. :)

Using the forum with the www. prefix is slightly annoying right now because it doesn't seem to be aware if you're already logged in. I've tried to do something that I think might help that, though, and just need time to see if it works.
The search engine stuff all needs to be updated for the new location.
The "Cry" emoticon in Colorful seems to be broken, for some reason. Maybe I need to try re-uploading it.
The flag thing, of course, needs fixed again.
It doesn't seem to read the old avatar attachments properly, and I'm not sure why. (I still have them available, so nothing was actually *lost*; the trouble is just in getting the forum to read it properly.)
All the old links (to places on "loamhedgeabbey.com"), of course, are broken. It can be fixed manually by simply substituting the new URL "loamhedgeabbey.com" for that one. I was thinking about trying to do a mass find-and-replace in the database.

Okay, that makes sense. At least we still have the forum, unlike some site... So will the new amount of space allow us to send longer PMs, or is that just so the forum doesn't crash?

Well, unless y'all have been deliberately PMing and posting less to account for the limited database size, it shouldn't change how things have been going. It just means that we don't have to worry about bumping up on size limits now.

As the database stood before, it was at 38 megs (counting all the posts from December to September). We had a max limit of 50 megs. Now, it can use as much space as the server has available, which is more than a few gigs. We're not hitting that limit any time soon, or probably at all (unless maybe your grandkids are on here 40 years from now).

How did a 50 meg server hold all of this? (Assuming you mean megabytes), one of my normal images takes up around 1 MB in an email, and applying that to the forum, how hasn't it used up space from image posts?

Probably because the images aren't uploaded, just linked to.

Mask's right. The only images that took up notable space were the avatars and attachments, and all of those were quite small, typically no more than a few k each. It would have added up if we had a large enough community, but we're not at that stage quite yet.
