{Kit, Ashe, Del}

As soon as the fiery gas hits the creature's unprotected face, it lets out a high-pitched shriek and thrashes around, slamming its head several times into the water. While it's dazed, one of the guards tosses Kit his wrench back.
"There's proper weaponry in the Main Entrance, run for it!"
As the dwellers practically dive through the door to the main entrance, a guard kicks open a nearby locker, revealing three assault rifle. He loads each one with a clip, then tosses one each to Jack and Sargon. The creature continues to dash down the corridor after you.
"On three, let loose with everything you've got. Aim for the face. One..."
The creature spits acid at the Dwellers, narrowly missing them, but burning a small hole in one of the nearby Radiation Suits.
"Two..."
The creature jumps through the door.
"THREE!"

{Sage, Sand, Eul}

Suddenly, from what seems like the other side of the wall, you can hear a commotion. Screams and gunfire... James hits the control panel, causing part of the wall to slowly retract into the floor. The scene on the other side is terrifying, but you notice a nearby, unlocked terminal, with one option on the screen.

OOC: Every time James is mentioned, I think that James Gryphon is a part of this for a second. :P

BIC: Kit narrowed his eyes a bit when he wasn't tossed an assault rifle, but didn't have much time to dwell on it as the lobster-like creature broke through the door. He blasted his flamer at the creature's face again with a shout, hoping that the others would use their new weapons.

OOC: Every time James is mentioned, I think that James Gryphon is a part of this for a second. :P Well, there IS Overseer Gryphon.

He blasted his flamer at the creature's face again with a shout, hoping that the others would use their new weapons. You've got a FLAMER. You don't need an assault rifle, too! :p

Eulaliaaa!

OOC: sorry I haven't posted. Also, I'll be gone Friday-Sunday on a youth group trip.

BIC:

Lynn, caught up in the moment, hadn't even given her maps thought. Silently, she made for the unlocked terminal, whatever weapon she had in hand (OOC: do I have a weapon) ready to fight back against anything she deemed a threat.
Just pretend there is something interesting and unique written here... I have nothing to say.

Kitsune

OOC: After looking up the flamer from Fallout, I agree. :P I thought it was a lot smaller. Still, an assault rifle would be handy. ;D

I'll give you a proper weapon in a sec. Also, I'm guessing that you activated the terminal? @Eulaliaa!

OOC: Sorry Grodds, I joined this at a really bad time :P

I'm going to drop out, if anyone would like to take over my character that'd be cool, or just take out your anger on me and kill her in the most brutal way possible.

Anyway I'm real sorry, but I can't continue. :-\

Between the hail of bullets and the flames, the Dwellers finally seem to have dealt with the creature. It staggers down a little set of steps, falling to the ground just next to the huge blast door. It shivers a little, almost getting up, when Lynn hits the "Y" button on the terminal. Hydraulic cooling fluid pours out of a canister above the Vault Door, freezing the creature solid. James, Aleah, and Lynn walk into the Entrance, causing one one of the guards to let out a sigh of relief. He hands his assault rifle to Lynn, who has no gun, and opens another locker.
"Glad to see you're alive, boss. Vault's falling apart, and we lost 3 of our guys. Me, Ramirez, and Manning are what's left of the Squad meant to accompany you and the ladies. O' course, we do have these three. We need as many people as we can get on this, what do you say? Want to come with us to the surface?"
It's a given. There's no way anybody would deny the offer to leave the Vault, especially now.
"Great, here's the Radiation Suits. We're still short a man, so we'll have to leave one here. Probably a good thing, just in case something happens to us."
"Hold on!"
From the corridor leading to the Atrium comes an engineer.
"I was sent to help. Here's the oxygen."
He dumps down a crate, containing several small canisters.
"The Radiation Suits normally just filter outside air, but these canisters should give you enough time to get out. It'll be hard to swim with them on, so you wouldn't be able to make it with just a single breath."
"You heard the man.. Suit up, people."
A few minutes later, everyone bar the engineer has squeezed into a radiation suit and attached an oxygen canister. The engineer walks into a side room, and emerges dragging a large box.
"If you have larger weapons, put them in here. Take it outside the vault and push this button; the crate'll float to the surface. Sidearms'll fit into your pockets."
Kit, Lynn, Sargon, and Jack all squeeze their weapons into the crate and drag it next to the door. The engineer stands next to the Vault Door Control Panel, and curses.
"Damn it, I forgot. You need one of the 3000 Models."
"Of what?" Someone asks.
"Of a Pip-Boy. The advanced model, the one you wear on your arm."
Lynn steps forward.
"I've got one of them."
"Good, good. Just plug the cable into here, please."
Lynn unzips the arm of her suit and plugs the cable attached to her Pip-Boy into the Control Panel.
"Excellent, you can go now. Password accepted, I'm opening the door... Wait."
"What?"
"I just realized. The only way for you to actually get out of here is to wait until this room's full of water. But doing that will ruin the mechanism that closes the door again."
One of the guards finds a solution.
"Get out of here, tell the Overseer. Make sure all the doors are shut and locked, and that everyone's as high up in the Vault as they can be."
The engineer nods, then runs out of the room as fast as his legs can carry him. The guard shuts the door to the Atrium, activates the clamps, and opens the Vault door. A large mechanical arm pulls the cog-shaped door inwards. Immediately, water starts pouring in. The arm starts to roll the door sideways, when it lets off sparks and shuts down.
"That's not good."
The opening is still tiny. The Dwellers can get through relatively easily, but it'll be a tight squeeze for the weapon crate. Everybody stands still, in the cold, radioactive water. Jack peers through the opening, only to see more creatures like the one from early in the lake. Some look like it, a giant lobster, others resemble mutated crabs. He hopes they don't notice that the door is open. Before long, water isn't rushing in anymore, and the Dwellers start to squeeze through the gap. James and Sargon wrench the weapon crate through the gap and hit the button, causing it to shoot towards the surface. Weighed down by the Radiation Suits, it takes all of everyone's strength to swim upwards. As the Dwellers get halfway up, they hear a muffled scream. One of the guards, who was covered in cuts, had picked the radiation suit with the hole in it. His blood has attracted the creatures, who start to swarm him. As the guard disappears beneath them, the Dwellers swim faster than they ever thought possible. Thankfully, there are no more losses, and the surviving Dwellers crawl, exhausted, onto the shore. Somebody grabs the weapon crate and drags it clear of the water, while everybody else ditches the Radiation Suits. They're soaked, heavy, and useless. One of the guards is clearly in a panic.
"Ah man. What're we gonna do, Bobby? We just lost Ramirez!"
"Shut up, Manning. Keep your trap shut before you attract more of those things.
The Dwellers spend the night further up from the shore, away from the creatures, chewing away at the pitiful rations they were supplied with. While looking at the stars, Lynn spots... something, near the shore. A huge, scaly creature. Twice the size of a man. With claws sharp as a razor. Eating one of the lobster-like creatures. It's a sight to behold. Eventually, though, everyone falls asleep.

<|[X]|>

"Oi! Geddup, or I'll blow yer 'ead off!"
Rudely awakened, James opens his eyes, coming face-to-face with a scruffy man, dressed in rags and metal spikes. He reaches for his weapon, but the man's foot on his neck makes him stop. Aleah, too, has her own vicious-looking stranger, poking her with a piece of rebar. She goes to speak, but the stranger deals her a whack on the leg.
"Don't go ta speak, me pretty. I'd 'ate ta 'ave ta kill ye afore I takes everythin' ye own."
More strangers appear, waking up the others. They force the Dwellers to their feet. One of them, clearly the leader due to the fancier, proper armor he wears, points a hunting rifle at the Dwellers.
"Allright, Vaulties, listen up. I don't know 'ow stupid ye are, but this is Painspike territory, an' you're trespassing. So, here's the plan. We can take your things and keep you as slaves, or we can blow your heads off right now, and take your stuff anyway."
Ramirez struggles with the bulky man holding him.
"Who are you? Why are you doing this?"
"I jus' told ye, we're Painspike Raiders, an' you Vaulties always have the best loot... I don't think you get it. Here's the deal."
One pull of a trigger later, and Ramirez's headless corpse is being rolled down towards the lake. The raider leader loads another bullet into his gun and jabs Aleah with it.
"You can either die here and now, or you can come with us and die later. WHAT'S IT GONNA BE?"
The Vault Loyalty Inspector spits in the Raider's eye.
"I'd rather die here."
He pulls the trigger. Aleah stares at the bullet wound in her chest, and coughs. Two raiders grab her by the arms while their leader slits her throat with a rusted machete.
"Real shame, that. Such a pretty little thing. What about the rest of you? Care to join your friends?"

OOC: @LT Sandpaw: Arright. Done.

Kit weighed his options, then decided to take a risky option, but one that later could be used to free the rest of them and escape.

"Are you accepting any recruits? I'm pretty handy with a gun and don't mind taking orders."

The Raider chief crosses his arms.
"Hmm. Shame you didn't pipe up earlier. I would have had you kill that woman to prove yourself. But I don't want any more slaves dead. You're worth a whole lot of caps, you are."
The chief nods to a raider, who hands him a baseball bat.
"Ysee, us Painspikes are the biggest, baddest gang of raiders in Seattle, and I'm their lead slavedriver. That means that I can put a say in for anyone who wants to join up. But you gotta be tough. Spike McGee doesn't pick weaklings."
The Slaver swings the bat, hitting Kit in the stomach, causing the teenager to fall over clutching his gut.
"No sirree, ole Spike won't even bat an eyelid at ye if ye don't take the beating. An' if ya don't survive, ya don't survive. You wanna join, boy?"
He hits Kit in the back.
"Ya gotta be TOUGH! Gotta be STRONG! Gotta know how ta SURVIVE, boy!"
Once more the bat swings, this time into the ground. Raiders grab Kit and stand him up.
"And ya gotta know how ta fight."
One of the raiders hands Kit a piece of rebar. The Slavedriver picks up the baseball bat.
"Bring it, boy. Show me what you've got."
