Don was making sure to stay well back, intentionally maintaining a healthy distance from the zombies. However as the third bumbling flesh eater stumbled towards him Croffer found himself forced to engage. Armed as he was with the heavy rifle the man hesitated, unsure of whether to use the weapon like a club, or drop the gun and pull out his knife. He went for the safer, and third option, raising the gun into a shooting position and pulling the trigger.

"Hell damn it," he cussed remembering he had emptied the chamber and mag only minutes before to clean the blasted thing. By that time the zombie had reached him and Don couldn't wait any longer. Jabbing forward with the barrel like he had a bayonet Don easily bowled the clumsy creature over. It took only a few more hefty swings with the stock to silence its incessant growling. Flicking rotten blood from the rifle's stock Don checked to see how his partners were fairing.

Quote from: Eulaliaaa! on January 06, 2017, 06:35:55 PMHenry, Don, Adrian, and Lavinia were the only four left of their previous group. Said group had recently been attacked by zombies and left only them alive and well. Before, they were traveling together to get up into the mountains and make their way to one of the small mountain towns where a member of the group had a huge vacation home. It was stocked with supplies, which was the one thing the group needed most. Another member had invited the others to join the two. Safety in numbers, after all. There had been seven people in this group. Now there were only four.

A huge well-stocked vacation home belonging to a survivor, in the Rockies? Hmm...JASON LIVES!

Let's pretend there was a 4th zombie, because thanks to work, I didn't see any of the new posts. ::)

Henry stepped forwards, towards the woman and the final zombie. With one hand, he thrust his knife towards the undead's temple; his other arm shooting out to grab the woman's arm.
"Easy there, sweetheart. We just saved you. Why don't you give us some proof of this 'family and supplies?' Because unless your family consists of three midgets and a chihuahua, they're not going to be hiding in your backpack, are they?"

Leaving any talking that need to be done to the others, Adrian picked up the pack and rifled through it

OOC: very well, details you shall have.

BIC: The woman nodded, trying to calm herself down before speaking. "Thank you, thank you so much." Looking at the four of them, she slowly pointed down the road behind her. "My family is that way. In Denver. I know it's a bit of a hike, but I'm with a group. We've holed up in one of the buildings and there's quite a lot of us. Please, you have to believe me. I have two beautiful girls, I need to get back to them. You... you can come with me. I'll take you to my group, they won't hurt you." She looked pleadingly up at them, tears trickling down her face. Denver, as everyone knew, was a several hour trip..... by car.

As Adrian searched through the bag, he found food, water, extra clothes, a notebook with some writing and lists in it, and a handgun with a silencer. The gun had extra ammo in a bag at the bottom of the pack.

Pulling the pistol and its silencer from the pack, Adrian spoke: "Why didn't you just use this to kill the zombies?"

Lavinia reached into her pack, pulling out a bandana. She carefully wiped the blood and gore from her club using the bandana, then folded it up and stuffed it back into her pack.

With a sigh she turned back to the others. "And what were you doing so far from home?" she asked the woman.

The woman looked from Adrian to Lavinia. "The gun... I... don't know how to use it. No one ever taught me, I just found it yesterday. And I'm searching. For supplies and stuff for my group. My car broke down and ran out of gas several miles up the road." She slowly stood up, making sure her hands where in the air and visible. "Hey, how about you come with me back to Denver? It's quite a ways away, but it'll be worth the trip." She looked nervously around at them. "Yeah?"

"Sorry honey," Don chortled rolling the zombies' bodies out of the way. "But we don't have the time, or reason to escort you to Denver. Either you go our way, or you go alone." He joined Adrian digging through the woman's pack selecting a few of the food items for himself, stuffing them nondescriptly into his own pack.

"Anything ya'll want out of here?" He asked the others once he had taken his pick. "Otherwise we need to get out of here, I don't like this pace, its too open."

"mmhmm" Adrian said in response to the woman, clearly unconvinced. He grabbed the remaining ammo out of the pack and knelt down to place it in his own backpack. At Don's remark he looked up and spoke again: "I'm in agreement there, we have places to be."

OOC: I'm assuming that their general plan was to find a way to the lodge.

Henry placed a hand on Adrian's backpack.
"That gun isn't yours to take. Give it back. And the ammo as well."
He turned to the woman.
"Much as I hate doin' this, I can't just leave you here. Places to be? Like what? This whole 'Mountain Cabin' shtick? How do any of us know it's still there. Hasn't been ransacked. Tell you what. I'll go with her. Can't just leave her to die. Maybe some day, we'll all meet up again in Shangri-La. Now. Adrian. Don. Give her back her gun, and her food. Or I'll take it back."

Feles

Adrian's eyes narrowed, however he reluctantly reopened his pack and placed the gun, silencer and two mags of ammo.
"Her 'group' could be just as made up Henry, I still have a hard time believing she would continue to scavenge after her car broke down and that said group would send her out alone when she didn't even know how to use a gun."

"I'll teach her. I can't just leave her here, Adrian. It's possible that her group was split up. Don, hurry up."
He turned to the woman.
"Your group split up? Were you even with them?"

Eulaliaaa!

OOC: that is correct. You guys can continue to the cabin, or trust the woman and follow her back to Denver. Either choice will have an entirely different story. *Maniacal laugh*

BIC: "No," the woman said. "They're still in Denver. We're taking up one of the buildings, there's plenty of room. And you can take the food - all of it, I don't mind." She started to look hopeful. "So you'll come with me?" she asked.

"I thought so. Would make more sense for you to show up here if you were travelling alone. But if there's two of us going, I think we'll be needing those supplies back, Don."
He handed her the gun.
"Hold onto that. When we get a chance, I'll show you how it works. Be quite useful to have another silenced gun watching my back."

Feles

Adrian bit his lip, he still didn't trust the woman, but he wasn't about to attempt to survive on his lonesome. He hoped that Lavinia and Don would not agree to Henry's idea.
