So basically what is your favorite Redwall book?
Mine is The Taggerung
I'd say impossible. They're all awesome
Well then what one do you find yourself reading the most?
The question above is for people who can't think of a favorite

Agreed. While I enjoy some of them more than others, they all hold special memories for me.
But if I had to choose, I think I'd say the original Redwall is the most special to me.
The first Redwall book I hate to say was least favorite book :-[
Sorry
Martin the warrior because of :
Martin and his friends
Grumm
Battle of Marshank
The food
Martin's skill with a sword
And finally..... Because Martin finally gets his sword back.I feel like this book was written for me.
Not too much battle but not too much party and celebration.
Reallllllllllllly love this book.
well he was just figuring out the world of redwall in the first book, you can definitely see the changes in his writing as time goes by, as for me i think the book i find my self readying the most would be Mariel of Redwall, i love storm gullwhacker and then Mariel, it is one of my favorites, but all the books are soooooo good
I would have to say Pearls of Lutra (for all the riddles :D) or Loamhedge because its the one that makes me cry the most.
Pearls of Lutra was brilliant. Reading it, I wanted to go and make myself a crew of sea-going goodbeasts, mainly otters.
Of course, now the Rogue Crew is out, so that actually happened. Need to get that book...
I just ordered Rouge Crew yesterday!!!!! I can't wait for it to get here!
I think my favorit book is either, Triss or Mossflower.
I think my favorite book is Lord Brocktree. This might seem strange, but the reason I like it so much is because I like the names of the books. I think they might have been changed as several editions of Lord Brocktree was published; in any case there are two titles for each book in my edition. The first is a broad, traditional name for a Redwall book, one that centers around Brocktree himself or the world of Redwall in general. The second is completely about Dotti, who is a very minor character and scarcely holds a place in Salamandastron history. For example, the last book is entitled "Comes a Badger Lord" but also "A Shawl for Aunt Blench". I love that!!
Typically my favorite book is the one I pick up and read. :D
Otherwise I would have to say I find myself reading Taggerung or Mossflower.

Rogue Crew is awesome!! I am so mad at myself because I read it way too fast and now the series is over... :(
I'm going to order The Rogue Crew in a few years so I don't have to read the last Redwall book for ages
Does anybody know if there going to make English covers for The Sable Queen and The Rogue Crew?

Pearls of Lutra is definitely one of my top 5 "Most Frequently Read" Redwall books. I like the casual attitude it was written with. It almost says "Hey, here's an adventure, but don't rush through it; savor the moment."
Pearls of Lutra is my 2nd favorite 8)
I like all of them but my favorite is either Mattimeo, Salamandastron or Long Patrol.
I liked how Mattimeo introduced a new major villain in each book, there are 2 major conflicts resulting in a double final battle, plus Slagar doesn't die until after the final battle.
Salamandastron had a very multilayered structure with 5 or 6 plotlines, Feragho was a bad*** villain, and there were a LOT of deaths. Plus it's a bit of a tragic ending. (Urthstripe's life story: parents killed, separated from brother, daughter runs away, fatally injured, and kills himself w/ feragho just as he was about to be reunited with his family.)
In long patrol, I liked how there were 3 armies meeting at one point and epic battle ensued (plus Damug actually won the final battle before being pwnt by Cregga).
Salamandastron used to be my favorite it's now my 4
I've read all of the books up to the Taggerung and here's my list in order of favorites
1. The Taggerung
2. The Pearls of Lutra
3. Outcast of Redwall
4. Salamandastron
5. Martin the Warrior
6. The Legend of Luke
7. Mattimeo
8. Mossflower
9. The Bellmaker
10. Mariel of Redwall
11. Marlfox
12. The Long Patrol
13. Lord Brocktree
14. Redwall
I think all the books are BRILLIANT but some are better then others
Another one for the "I love them all!" crowd here. :D
Just to throw titles out there, I'll say The Rogue Crew or The Pearls of Lutra are two of my absolute favorites.
The Rogue Crew sounds very good

I liked it but I think my expectations were just a little too high...check out my post in the "Unpublished Work" section if you really care that much.
I really want it to come out in the UK and Ireland as shops around here don't stock it :'(

That's so weird, I live in the US and it's in my local bookstore. Plus I live in a reasonably small town!
They only released it in America you can't even buy The Sable Queen
I may have to order it off Amazon.co.uk
I have no idea why they only released it over there seeing as Brian was English
You could always purchase it from the Redwall bookstore. (http://www.redwallabbey.com/shop/)
No I think it's American,I'll have to go and check.
The books are also cheaper off Amazon.
Wait, the Rogue Crew wasn't released in England? :O
My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I think books can be best compared to good bottles of root beer. If a book is full of bubbles than it can be too painful, and if it is too sweet it can give you a headache. But if you find that perfectly balanced root beer, you will want it in something as big as a goblet- so obviously Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is my favorite book.

@TinaFey123/Tomthetomatoe: This topic is not for your favorite general book. This topic relates to Redwall specifically. I'd recommend copying your post, posting it in the thread for favorite of all books which presently exists, and deleting the current as it is off-topic.
Personally I can't choose one, but I have to say the my top favourite two are:
Martin the Warrior - 1st book of the series I ever read
Marlfox - Good plot, great characters, especially liked the Marlfoxes (Especially Mokkan)
Mossflower. It was the first one I read, and read the most. Mariel is a close second though.
Still working on reading them all. Have read around 10/12 now.
I got into Redwall late, so I'm still enjoying the fact that I have 7 more of the books to read. I was reading them in publication order up to The Legend of Luke, but started to skip around a bit (for example, I just finished Rogue Crew). I have to say my favorite so far is The Long Patrol. I guess you could tell from my name that I'm partial to the hares :), but I found that in that book my favorite character was Finnbar Galedeep, the sea-rovin' sea otter.
I read the series out of order for the first time, too: just however they happened to be arranged on my library's shelves. I read them in publication order when I started to collect them.
I've only read the books once. Sorry for the people in England. Here in America in my state the Rogue Crew came out the 3rd of May. I was the first person to get it at my library. But I waited 2 weeks. Anyway I finished it. My favorites are:
Lord Brocktree (love Dotti. I even named my cat that I got Lord Brocktree)
Long Patrol
But I'm not really sure. I have to say Peals of Luta was good. And Rogue Crew. Sable Queen, Redwall, and Eulialia.
Mossflower was the first one I read, and it's still my favourite. I just re-read it last week. I love the riddles and the questing... and I especially love Gonff. "Er, aha ha. Hello, mateys, I was flying my cloud, you see..."
As said, all of the Redwall books are awesome!
But I have to say my favourite EVER is......
THE LEGEND OF LUKE!!!!!
Well, Outcast of Redwall had the best characters with Skarlath and Sunflash, but the story line was a bit dull. Martin the Warrior had good characters and storyline, so that's up there. I think it's between Martin the Warrior, Mossflower, Redwall, the Rogue Crew or The Pearls of Lutra.
I have to say I liked Doomwyte because it had lots of action and less parties. When there are too many parties it gets boring.

they aren't bad, I just enjoy how Brian was so descriptive on describing the food!!! ;D
*Matthias720 salivates at the thought of Redwall vittles*
Mine is probably marlfox. :)
It is so hard to choose!!
Mine is probably Mossflower. Pearls of Lutra is a close second.
Probably Mossflower, followed closely by Redwall, Outcast of Redwall, and The Long Patrol.
The Long Patrol!!!! That and The Legend of Luke both INCREDIBLE books! I've read both multiple times
Redwall, Mattimeo, and Mossflower. I kind of liked Martin the Warrior, too.
I love Mossflower. It is by far my favorite book
I'm just starting book three of the Legend of Luke - it's been so long, it's like reading a whole new story! - and for the sake of Beau, it is now in my top three favorites. XD
Martin the Warrior was pretty good, too.
Rakkety Tam, Mossflower, High Rhulain, and Taggerung. ;D
I hear Rakkety Tam's really good. It had 17 points on the book eliminator last time I checked. :o
1. Taggerung (best, most engaging mix of traits)
2. The Rogue Crew (most powerful)
3. Rakkety Tam (it's really good)
4. The Legend of Luke (personal favorite)
5. Martin the Warrior (overall favorite)
OK where to start I like Taggarung the best Rakkaty Tam close second then Legend of Luke Long Patrol next then I think Mossflower but over all I think Doomwyte is the best written and I really like Loamheage and Triss, Outcast of Redwall is good and Perls of Lutra (ramdon piece of infomation but did you know that lutra is the Latin name for otter :-*) I think Salamanderstron has to be on the list and Bellmaker ho I LOVE Bellmaker. I also like Marlfox and Martin the Warrior must be on the list also and Mariel of Redwall. these are my top favorites ;D
Doomwyte, High Rhulain, Triss and The Rogue Crew are my favorites
Doom doom doom DOOMWYTE!!!!!
Taggerung for me too.
Martin the Warrior!!!! It's the top!!!

Your computer should be able to translate it.
Very hard - it would be easier to list the few books I don't like as much as the others - Mattimeo (annoying characters), Salamandastron (a bit nondescript with the plot) and... I'm going to blaspheme here... Redwall (because it doesn't "fit in" with the rest of the series).
If I had to list a favourite book it would most likely be The Bellmaker.
Sure I think the villain is a bit poor, and none of the characters individually stand out compared to some others in the series. However overall it is a fantastic book, short and sweet.
I'll go ahead & try to list best to worst:
1) The Sable Quean
2) Marlfox
3) Loamhedge
4) Pearls of Lutra
5) Rakkety Tam
6) Eulalia
7) Doomwyte
8) Mariel of Redwall
9) Martin the Warrior
10) The Long Patrol
11) Lord Brocktree
12) The Rogue Crew
13) Legend of Luke
14) The Bellmaker
15) Mattimeo
16) Salamandastron
17) Redwall
18) Outcast of Redwall
19) Triss
20) Mossflower
21) Taggerung
22) High Rhulain
PS- only those last two I consider bad. The rest are fine. I just had to organize them somehow. The top 5 I consider amazing.
My favorite Redwall books:
Mossflower
Martin the Warrior
High Rhulain
Triss
Marlfox
Ah'm ztill for av o' zem!
Right now I'm re-reading the Redwall series in chronological order after a long time of not reading any of the books. So far in my re-read (I'm currently at Outcast of Redwall) The Legend of Luke has been my favorite. I also really love Mossflower. From what I remember of the other books I really enjoyed Triss, High Rhulain and Mattimeo. I liked all of the Redwall books but those are the main ones that stick out to me right now.

Triss and High Rhulain are some of my favorites too! (Along with Doomwyte.)
I have ones that I noticeably like less than others, but I do like them less than the others. There isn't really any book in the series that I dislike.
However, my favorites, would probably be
1.) Lord Brocktree
and then 2.) - 5.)/6.) in no order I've been able to decide on yet:
Taggerung
Triss
Rakkety Tam
Maybe... The Long Patrol and The Legend of Luke
I feel like I need to get back to re-reading a lot of the other ones. I've been finding that, in the books I have read recently, I'm picking up on things I hadn't really noticed before. So maybe this list would be a lot different if I got back into some of the other books in the series.

2 The Bellmaker
3 The Legend of Luke
4 The Rouge Crew
5 High Rhulain
My top favorite books are The Sable Quean, Eulaila, Rakkety Tam, and Lord Brocktree. But I think of all those probably Rakkety Tam!
My favourite Redwall book is Taggerung and always will be :) I do like the first three books in the series which are Martin the Warroir, Mossflower, and Legend of Luke. ;D but Bellmaker is an amazing book too
so far, by far my favourite book is marlfox. i think i'm currently reading my 9th, but none have come close to marlfox as of yet, i think perhaps because of something that happened to me while i was getting started reading it;
on the evening i started it, i had a boyfriend coming over to cook me dinner. he was going shopping and then coming back to my place, and i'd finished all my work very early, so i started my first redwall book. something like 50-60 pages in, the redwall abbeyers start discussing this year's strawberry harvest and all of the wonderful things they're planning on doing with it.
so... boyfriend turns up; shopping bags in hand with lots of marvelous things inside and says "heeyy!!! i'm gonna cook you this, this and this..." ... i just reply "no no! i really want a trifle. right now! let's go to the shops and buy a massive one. we'll share it."
he replies with a spectacularly stern "no. you need some proper food." ... after which i bought a trifle and ate it all myself.
so that's why i like marlfox
^Hehe, reading those feasts on an empty stomach is nothing short of torture.
So true It's worse then watching the cooking shows on TV.
most of what they make is vegetarian as well, suits me right down to the ground. unfortunately the otters rather like their shrimp.
The woodlanders will also eat fish sometimes.
Naima, that has got to be one of the best stories I've ever heard as to why a particular book is someone's favourite. :D

I would have to say either Mattimeo, Marlfox, or Triss is myh favorite book.
I really want to read legend of luke. also my fav is mossflower
I've only read the first six books, but I can say without a doubt that my favorite book is Mossflower. :)
Mine is 100% High Rhulain. but I could go on for hours about how my least favorite redwall book (Marlfox) is a great book and mildly confusing.
The only one I didn't really like was Loamhedge, it was so sad.
My favorite one is (of course!) The Sable Quean, but I like the others, too.
Especially Rakkety Tam and Doomwyte!
And let's not forget Lord Brocktree either. (Dotti cracks me up! :))
I accidentally read Mossflower first, instead of Redwall, and now when someone says that they read "the first book" I automatically think they mean Mossflower.

What an even younger Corn said back in 2013. ;D (I may have responded to this back then, but how many pages back must one have to go?) I tend to say that's my favourite because it does feel intriguing and different to the other books, as the first lot did, before they got more formulaic.
i love Pearls of Lutra...
I enjoyed Pearls of Lutra. I like the books that leave Redwall because it shows us so much more of Brian's well thought-out world.
Lask Frildur was super creepy though. Where was Sampetra, anyway? At the Equator?
Also, if it was in a really hot place, why did they go to that place with icebergs?
They were lost and/or accidentally went the wrong way.
ok...
