Title: Zombies?
Post by: RedwallForever12 on March 23, 2012, 09:18:50 PM

Fiction

Yep, they're fictional.  A well-publicized myth, and one that many people enjoy since it is, overall, one of the less terrifying legends, but they aren't real.

Some people used to (and still do, when they can get away with it, in some teeny-tiny pockets of the world) eat human flesh, but the stereotypical zombie is not real.

Vegetables.  Not exactly zombie style.  ;)

The Solanum Virus is fictional.  I think Max Brooks himself made it up, but I don't know that for sure.

You CAN put someone in a living dead state (not moving around though, they can't move), But it's with achemical from pufferfish! Zombies aren't real. And personally I don't think they ever will be!

Zombies aren't real, nor will they ever be.

(unless you count a teenager who's spent all day at school withnno coffee or sleep beforehand. :D)

But, it's still pretty fun to play games with them. Like the Zombie Apocolypse. ;D

"I've always liked the monster within idea. I like the zombies being us. It's like, zombies are the blue-collar monsters." - George A Romero

I love "The Walking Dead".

Not necessarily. Haitians believe that if you do this (http://www.howstuffworks.com/science-vs-myth/strange-creatures/zombie1.htm), you become a zombie. In all other parts of the world, if that happens to you, you are insane. In Haiti, you're a zombie. It all has to do with culture. I do believe in zombies, but sanely, not like some others.

Anything can be as real or as fake as you believe it to be, or want it to be. For example, I believe in some healing powers being real, but I believe that mythical creatures (werewolves, vampires, etc) are fictional. It just depends on personal opinion.

After reading your post, Redwallfan7, this is the impression I got out of it: absolute truth is determined by the individual; truth doesn't mean much, it changes from person to person

is this what you meant?

Just because they're in some series doesn't mean they're real.

I would not be so hasty to dismiss the existence of zombies.  A bit of research reveals many, many incidents that have occurred recently that have all the trademarks of a zombie attack.  While real life zombies do not have the characteristics of zombies depicted on TV and in movies, they most certainly exist.

No, they're not. If they are, prove in a video or something.

Like I said before, I'm not talking about zombies as they are depicted in TV and movies.  However, there have been several incidents this year that have characteristics of a zombie attack which is enough for me to conclude that people can behave like zombies.  Here is an article chronicling this year's zombie threat complete with face eating and mysterious rashes.

Note your own wording "People CAN BEHAVE like zombies." Zombies themselves do not exist.
Title: Re: Zombies?
Post by: psilocybin on September 14, 2012, 10:35:15 PM
I never said zombies exist.  Once again, I said that zombies as they are depicted in TV and movies do not exist.  However, crazed individuals with zombie characteristics, such as eating people's faces while they are still alive, do exist.  If a person is in such a mental and physical state that they would attack and eat another person, I would consider the attacker a zombie.  So ultimately, yes, I do believe a certain type of zombie can exist. I just thought it would be interesting to note that there have been a string of zombie-like incidents recently.

As I just quickly went through Star Wars: Red Harvest I have this to say.

The main plot of the book is this sith lord has discovered a way towards immortality and able to control an army of zombies, but the flaw (as their always is one) requires him to perform a certain task, otherwise he'll be like all the other zombies. So in this regard, someone would want to do said task.

As with regards into their existence, anything is possible.

Here's a few things to disprove your fears, or what.

#1 We have the ability to heal ourselves, the walking dead do not, every cut, bump, and scrape would literally tear them apart, as they have not the ability to heal, and they're quite fleshy and soft.

#2 They way God designed our body was to have a decent heating and cooling system. Zombies, again, do not have that. In temperatures below 45 degrees, they would become meatsicles. Over 70 degrees, the heat inside them would become so intense from the moisture, and rotting materials, they would combust. (ever seen a bale of hay? They need to dry it out before they bale it, or else the energy from the compensating moisture will catch the bale on fire.)

#3 If zombies could make a work-around for these HUGE disadvantages, along with no teamwork, no tactics, and slowly rotting to dust, there's just too many people like me, and others who would love to hear "there's zombies out there, get your gun and kill them all" instead of "six deer a season." :D

Zombies are fiction.
There was ONE instance in a pilgrim town, when people did become theoretical zombies. They were completely mindless, not caring for anything, and had an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Freaky virus, huh?

Please don't post multiple times in a row. You can quote multiple posts at once by using the "Insert Quote" link in the topic summary at the bottom of the posting page. :) If the posts you want to quote are too old to appear in the topic summary, you can copy-paste everything into one post.

As for zombies, I personally do not believe they exist, but I do like watching movies about them. :)

Hahaha. :D

Anyway, I don't think zombies from the movies can exist. Yes, people can behave like zombies, but realy zombies just don't exist. And never will.
