ok its simple just vote and tell us why u like that kind of music in a post :D
I went 60's music (Beatles, Bob Dylan...), alternative (rock), and none of these because my favourite genres are folk, indie folk and pretty much anything indie. I have a fairly strange style of music for a 13 year old. I mean, who else who's 13 has Beethoven on his/her ipod? :)
I like musical theatre. My favourites are pretty typical: Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, The Last Five Years... I also love Disney soundtracks and movie, TV and video game soundtracks. I love music. ;D
Christian and classical for me, although I really like Celtic music as well.
Of that list up there, I put 80s music, jazz, and classical. It covers a lot, but I also like the stuff heard in movie scores, some singer/songwriter (think Billy Joel), and vocal genres (think Katie Melua).

Christian music is a bit weird and cheesy. Original Christian music is all right.

That was a great video! Now I want to go and make a water slide in a forest somewhere...

Yeah, a waterside that goes for hundreds of metres, goes through a paddock with cows and goes really fast!
long live country and rock n roll :)
My favorite music is Christian Rock, especially Skillet and Red. :)
I missed all the earlier Les Misérables comments! I LOVE THAT MUSICAL!!!!! It's been my favorite since I was 6! And for those of you who know my current love for Celtic Woman, I'd rather go to see Les Mis than CW! :o
There were three I selected, but I need to expound a bit upon my selections.
Classical: I don't particularly enjoy the Classical time period of music save for a few selections. The Classical time period of music goes from approximately 1750 to 1830 and includes notable composers such as Mozart, Haydn, and the first several of Beethoven's symphonies (Beethoven's work are some of the few I enjoy from the Classical period). However, I do enjoy most of what would be colloquially termed "classical" (minus most music from the Classical period). Going back before the Classical period, we have Baroque (Bach, Telemann, etc), which is awesome. Before Baroque things are very interesting with Renaissance and then, further back, "Medieval" music (which comprises a vast array of music types that are all spectacular). My favorite composer is Abbess Hildegard Von Bingen. She wrote holy chant in the 1100s.
Opera: I like most opera, though not all. Some of the Italian stuff gets way too over the top for me. I don't often just listen to opera, as it is such a visual thing as much as it is auditory. If you have ever been to an opera, you'll know what I mean. It's one thing to listen to it on the radio, it's a whole 'nother animal to go to the opera and see the stories acted out. Fantastic, moving stuff. One of my favorites is Faust. If you get a really good baritone playing the Devil, it's a show you won't soon forget!
Celtic: I don't listen to a lot of this, but what I have listened to can count with my favorite music. Once again, this is a broad category. There's some I like, some I don't.
A few other composers/artists I enjoy with their music "types" in parenthesis. This list is nowhere near exhaustive:
Front Line Assembly (Industrial)
Skrillex (Dubstep)
Mumford and Sons (Folk/Rock)
Delerium (electronic?)
Conjure One (electronic?)
Squirrel Nut Zippers (Dixie)
Johnny Cash (folk)
Ralph Vaughan Williams ("classical")
Arvo Part (sacred)
Neko Case (folk)
Pink Floyd (I don't even know what they'd be classified under)
Sufjan Stevens (Folk/Rock)
Hooray for Les Mis! And hooray for musicals in general, they're definitely my favourite type of music. Has anyone else pre-ordered The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary CD and DVD? No...? Just me...?
who voted for screamo
Pop country and alternative
Pink (only some songs ;) )
Kelly Clarkson
David archuleta
Taylor swift
Linkin park
Orianthi
China Anne McClain
Muppets treasure island Shiver me timbers. It's a great song.
@yeswonderful Mumford and Sons and Sufjan Stevens! Nice! And also, Pink Floyd is psychedelic/progressive rock, I'm also a major fan of them.
i like beethoven and bach to but i dont listen to either on ethat much
60's & 70's ;D
My favorite Genres include various incarnations of Rock and a few types of Pop.
My absolute favorite groups would be The Beach Boys & Creedence Clearwater Revival, CCR for short. (Note: Both Bands are inactive ;).)
I feel like the only metal head in the group D=.
Wait, would you consider bands like Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Rhapsody of Fire, Nightwish, Within Temptaition, Epica, Nocturnal Rites and the like as metal or symphonic metal?
I love celtic rock :) The Pogues, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly... Excellent stuff.
Other than that I love alt rock (Red Hot Chili Peppers, THe Killers), Folk music, and classic rock.

I would consider Nightwish and Within Temptation as symphonic metal. They definitely have a different feel to the rest of the metal genre, I think. I can't comment on the other bands, I haven't heard them.
I'm listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young right now. They're one of my favorite bands

I have heard of them, and it was Dragonforce that introduced me to the genre.
holy cow me to haha
I love Taylor Swift's music, but I don't really like country, even though some of her songs are classed either country or country pop, and then I just like other random songs 8)
zelda dubstep and zelda metal covers
*late on the boat*
I mostly enjoy Bluegrass and Classical music, but I like old-style Swing when I can find it and minimal portions of rock.
As to all the discussion on Christian music, I don't listen to most of the contemporary Christian music out there because I figure that if I want a rock song, I'll listen to a real one. That said, Jars of Clay is my single favorite band ever.
Skillet is the best! Whispers in the Dark and Awake and Alive are my favorites. Anyone ever heard of Lecrae by any chance? I don't usually listen to rap but he's reaaaally good.
I like:
Selena Gomez
Demi Lovato
Katy Perry
Kelly Clarkson
Adele
80's pop, 90's pop

Yes, I think Lecrae is amazing. I never truly listened to rap before, or even entertained the idea of listening to it until I was shown Lecrae. I was also lucky enough to go to one of his recent concerts, and let me tell you, it was pretty awesome. I like listening to Christian music, many different genres of it.
I also enjoy Classical music, but let me be more specific. I play the piano and I am pretty serious about improving so I try and listen to all the piano I can. My MP3 player is loaded with solo piano music. I love listening to video game piano, some classical piano (to be truthful I find some boring, but on the other hand so is very amazing) Claire De Lune Debussy is my favorite classical piece. I also enjoy new age pianists such as Isaac Shepard and Brian Crain. I actually have a Youtube channel (KnucklesE) where I have posted few piano pieces.
Celtic music is also a great enjoyment of mine. I think I actually got into it after reading a large volume of Redwall books. I enjoy Culann's Hounds mainly, but there are some others I try and listen too.
I do own the Songs from Redwall CD and I enjoy breaking that out if I get into a Redwall mood.

love most of what posted above espically the muppet shiver me timber songs. listen to the radio mostly(new songs) and 90s music mainly love them all
My fav. is Black Eyed Peas, Gorge Strait. Kinda wird I know.
Being a muscian myself, I'm practically music crazy and I like all kinds to suit whatever mood I'm in. ;D What I find myself listening to the most is movie soundtracks and then epic music such as Audiomachine, Thomas Bergerson, Immediate Music, Future World Music, ect. The styles I find myself playing on my fiddle the most would be Celtic, Bluegrass, Folk, and Classical. (Celtic style has stolen my heart though :)). On the piano I've played a lot of classical and spiritual in the past, but for the past couple of years I play mostly my own compositions which would probaby fit in the pop or epic categories.
I like a lot of pop songs too. Though I'm not a big Country fan, I love listening to Taylor Swift. Of course, maybe that's because her style is more Country/Pop.
I love Celtic music, If you do too look up Adrian Von Ziegler on YouTube. I did: Christain, Celtic, and Country.
You have to give it some time before you can listen to it ::) Hope you enjoy!

I hate Justin Bieber's music. Booo.

I'm a fan of their old material. Parachutes and Rush of Blood were their best work. I love the track Spies. The whole CD reminds me of winter.
^
That's me. In my opinion, after "X&Y" it started going downhill. I can't even listen to "Mylo Xyloto". "A Rush of Blood to the Head", however, is a great album. I haven't listened to them for ages. I've found new bands to obsess over.

Yeah Viva la Vida and Mylo Xyloto don't even sound like the same band anymore. I saw them live during the X and Y tour and they were great.
But... there's this song, "Paradise," on Mylo Xyloto and... I kind of like it.. even though poppy stuff with synthesizers usually wants to make me cram knitting needles in my ears.
i personally don't see whats wrong with Viva la Vida, seems that it's just me... still think they walked off of a cliff on Mylo Xyloto not started walking downhill on viva la Vida. could just be because my copy of Rush of Blood to the Head started skipping, then got lost entirely. and i still like Yellow, and i still mean the song, and i still don't mean the color.
Evanescence! Wake me up is amazing.... I love that song.

Amy Lee...oh my god. I want her to marry me. XD Totally in love with her. I saw them live not too long after their first album came out, and wow.
I like...an odd assortment of music. A bit of nearly everything, except country, most hip-hop, and most modern pop. I'd have to say my favorite band is The B-52's, though.
ROCK LOBSTER! Any other B-52's fans here? In case you don't know them by name, their most well-known song is Love Shack, and their newest album was called Funplex (which was also the name of the big single from it). If there are any fans around, what did you think of Funplex? How do you think it compares to classic B-52's?

It's funny nobody mentioned prog. It's a music very close to (and inspired by) fantasy. Forget the fact that I'm in a prog rock band and the editor of a prog rock fanzine ;D
Prog? Well, I've decided that I like the band Manafest. I just finished listening to Human, which I heard on the radio yesterday after going "Ooh!" when I heard "Manafest". Lol, and then I squealed (literally) when Skillet came on soon after.
If I could vote again, I'd definitely vote for: Christian, Classical, 70s music.
Yeah, I'd vote for pop, Christian and hip hop, probably.
I don't really like any of these I likemusical music I guess :P
Classical for Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, and Handel mostly.
Country for some of the music my brother plays all the time and I'm getting used to it.
