Hi all! The purpose of this board is to inform you on how to participate in the Great Summer Games Extravaganza and answer any questions you may have. Below, I've written out how to take part in each event and explain what we have to look forward to this month. If you have any questions or comments you'd like to share, feel free to post something below -- one of the judges or fellow participants will be happy to help you out!

What's going on?

Welcome one, welcome all! It's the Great Summer Games Extravaganza!!!

Many of you will probably remember the Fall Extravaganza we held about two years ago, which was a smashing success! For those who are newer, a Redwall Forum Extravaganza is a forum-wide event and contest series that lasts a full month. This time around, we decided to celebrate Brian Jacques Day (February 5), our friends experiencing summer south of the equator, and the spirit of the Olympic games coming up in the Northern Hemisphere summer.

Events will be held all over the forum. Some will be available to participate in from right now to the closing ceremonies. Others will only be available for a shorter window, ranging from one week to just a couple of days, so be sure to check in now and then!

While some events will be quick and some will be long, ALL will count toward your own personal score which will pit you against your peers in friendly competition!

The festival will take place from Feb. 5 (Brian Jacques Day) to March 5.

PRIZES!

Grand Prize Winner will get a copy of The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout on Steam, a book of their choice from the Redwall La Dita Bookshop (ordered by the forum admin), a special medal for their signature, and will be crowned season namer for this upcoming Spring!

Runner-up Grand Prize Winner will get their choice of a copy of The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout on Steam or a book of their choice from the Redwall La Dita Bookshop (ordered by the forum admin), and a special medal for their signature!

All who participate in at least 5 events will get a commemorative participation medal for their signature!

List of Events + How to Participate
Simple! Events will be popping up around the forum throughout the whole month. Take a look around to see where things are happening in the community!

Day 1 - February 5, 2020: Opening Ceremonies and the first pop-up event, A Toast for Brian Jacques.

Everyone who comes to the opening ceremonies in true fashion will secure themselves 3 points. Everyone who takes part in giving a kind toast to the man who made the community will also win 3 points.
Additional points are rewarded to those who the Event Judge (who may be any one of the judging roster) believes went above and beyond for the occasion!


Day 2 - February 6, 2020: Fan Fiction contest kickoff (judge's choice)!

In the fan fiction section of the forum, submit a story as a new topic. It can be about anything so long as it%u2019s related to Brian Jacques%u2019 works! No word limit. Just remember, entries are judged based on quality of words, not quantity!
If you have already written a finished fan fiction and would like to submit that, go ahead! But know that new stories (and old stories that are being finished with new posts) will be given extra consideration when judging.

Earn up to an extra 5 points for leaving at least two well-thought out reviews on different fan fictions (new or old)! If you post more, judges will consider your two most well-written reviews for bonus points.

To enter, post your entry in the Fan Fiction board of the forum before February 29!


Day 5 - February 9, 2020: The Great Avatar Switch!

To take part, change your avatar to something relating to the theme of summer, and then make a post in the kickoff thread and let us know that you are participating!  This event will not be judged, but instead, an automatic two points will be awarded to all participants.


Day 11 - February 15, 2020: If Redwall Villains were in the Summer Games...

What would happen if all of the Redwall villains were competing in Summer Olympic-style games? We've got a list of villains and a list of events. Pick a scenario you like and let us know how you think things would unfold, or who would be the unquestionnable best at a certain event, or the worst. It's an open-ended 'what-if' scenario, so have fun!

Contenders (i.e. you the participant, not the redwall villains) who post in the thread can only win one medal maximum, but may submit as much as they want (so long as it%u2019s not spam)!


Day 13 - February 17, 2020: Redwall Elimination Game

In the end, there must be a best book above the others! This is a classic Redwall Elimination game that we are hosting on the general discussion board during the Extravaganza. Represent one book in the contest and make it to the end for bonus points!

Day 31 - March 6, 2020: Summer Time Roleplaying

A low effort Roleplaying "tournament" for fun in the Cellars, winners are chosen based on who provides the most laughs.
