Means your aren't allowed to go out and do things.  You're confined to the house (or your room) and aren't allowed to hang out with friends.  Also sometimes means you aren't allowed to use certain electronics.  In the end though, the length and severity is dependent on the parent (or whoever happens to be grounding you, I suppose  )

Ah, well ya'll seem like good chooks, so I doubt she's had much reason to do so.

Yeah, we can be very cheeky at times but we do try to be well-behaved and generally lighten her load, as much as possible. (Though we all get frustrated from time to time)

Besides, if mum grounds us, she can't send us to the supermarket to get a random ingredient she doesn't have and, especially if we're confined to our rooms, we can't help with the housework or cooking. (Plus she'll have to walk the dogs and feed the birds and such)
On the whole, it's her she'd be punishing, not us, so she doesn't really see the point to it. If we've been naughty, she'll find a job for us to do or, if she's really annoyed and happens to be baking, she'll give us The Spoon.
