Judging by Eb's preference for bows, I would assume close range attacks with a sword to be a weakness. It can outreach the knife that any sensible archer has on their person, while still being close enough to render a bow obsolete.
"What will become of us? Where will we go, we who wander this vast wasteland in search of our better selves?"

Ahh, but what if they have two knives? Then the swordsman might be in trouble. Of course, if it was an angry axeman, then you'd probably have to try to distract them, throw both knives, then run like Gorlog's chasing after you.
Error. Error. Cannot compute.

One-Eye the wildcat

An archer would have to put the bow away, then draw both knives, leaving the swordsman a window of opportunity to go for the kill.

Well, the two first things I did after getting shipped with Russa is shoot Del, then myself, so...

A Ranger would almost certainly be quick enough. Remember that they probably have a Ranger horse with them.

Or one could just drop the bow...
Besides, just because I've never mentioned being skilled with a close range weapon doesn't mean that I'm not.
Edit: Also good point Lass.
Infant Ebby is a smol, out-of-control firebending terror. It's a good thing she's also quite cute.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
