No, nobody's been playing d4 recently (well, actually, if somebody wanted to play chess and I was white and would).

I realise you probably won't get the reference to a chess meme where white played d4 and black tipped the table over (which you shouldn't do as you may lose or damage the pieces). I don't see why so many people hate d4. Most top engines say that it's better than e4, I believe. Besides, the theory is quite easy to learn (and I don't learn openings, although I do know some basic opening theory), unlike e4.
