All right, listen.
1. You didn't steal the spotlight. Cellars topics have a lot of wandering, and you posted an original drawing, which drew a lot of attention.
2. Everyone praised you for it because you presented good work. It depicted a cute scene, and it was very well done. Despite the flip flops, you could easily tell who we both were.
3.You aren't useless, here or in real life. Read how many member appreciation thread posts are about you, not simply containing you. That speaks for itself.
4. You aren't showing off. You didn't post that picture to brag, or show off, or make anybody feel unskilled. You simply presented a depicton of a scene.

Also, you could probably post that in the forum comics section.
