RP: Quest to Castle Floret

The sun was slowly rising in a seemingly reluctant way, setting off a dull light across the lawns. Although it was only the first day of autumn, brown leaves were already starting to fall. In a few more days they would carpet the ground, giving a crumpling sound when one's paw trod on them. Despite it being only sunrise, many occupants of Redwall Abbey were already rising or awake. It was going to be a busy day; they needed as much time as possible. A great feast was to be had in the orchid that night, and preparations needed to be made. Kitchen helpers placed breakfast out on the tables in Cavern Hall ready for those waking up. Some already started cooking for the feast- a lot of food would be needed. Everyone in the Abbey would be attending, as well as some visitors from Mossflower. Not to forget the hares of the Long Patrol! The badger lord Barrenstripe and some of his hares would be arriving sometime later that day, and they could certainly eat!

Foremole Dirtclaw was one of the early risers, helping out his good friend Arthur Sharpspike the cellarhog in the cellars. He helped roll barrels of tea out to the breakfast tables and helped sort out those for the feast tomorrow. It was tiring work, but he didn't mind. He enjoyed helping out Arthur.

OOC: Well, off we go! Arthur can be a character anyone can control, as can the abbot, unless someone claims his spot. At the start don't "wander off" too much, the feast will start a little earlier then some of the other RPs. This is because I want the main part of the story to start earlier then normal, and I want it to stick to the storyline pretty closely. Finally, please try your best to retain good grammar throughout the RP. This means the right use of punctuation and capatalizing letters. It would help if you first type your post in a Word document so it picks up spelling mistakes etc and then posting it here. You could also type it here and then cut/paste it in to a word document. Anyway, have fun!

Aleeta Swiftrudder was helping in the kitchens. Her sharp eyes ever alert for an opportunity to play a prank on somebeast, the ottermaid pretended to knead a piece of dough, while she watched a moles stir cake mix. She waited till the mole went to get something, then took out of a pocket her own secret supply of Red Firebrand pepper. She sprinkled it liberally in the mix, and stirred it till the red flecks were no longer visible.

OOC: Oldest trick in the book, I know.

Pinetail strolld through the kitchens breathing in the appitising smells of the famous redwall cooking, he tied not to chuckle as he saw Aleeta sprinkle some
Red Firebrand pepper into the moles mixtue, he winked broadlt to her then walked off to help. he decided to help cut some ingredients so he took out the sword of Martin The Warrior and neatly chopped the ingredients, he stopped and stared ay the blade, suddenly he threw it up, caught it and sheathed it, he then walked away to see if he could help in any other way to prepare the feast

Briony saw Pinetail and ran up to him
"Sir are not we training today? with my dirk?" she asked panting after her run up to him. she stood by waiting for his reply

[Skipper]

Pinetail turned and smiled "of course, would you like to learn how to throw it first?" he scrathed his tail and headed outside to the orchard where they normally trained

Briony ran after him skipping with joy she handed the dirk over.

[Skipper]

Pinetail stopped as they came up to a sturdy tree with apples in its branches, he took the sword of martin the warrior and made a vertical line with it, he took the dirk and put it in Briony's paws, he showed her how to hold and said "make sure your breathing is even, throw it as you breathe in, i dont expect you to make any miracles first time round so focus on what your doing and try not to move your paw after its been throw" he stood back and watched calmly and paitently

Briony had to wait a couple minutes before her breathing slowed down she breathed in then let out and at that very second she through the dirk, she waited but no thud looking at the tree there was nothing there, then looking at the ground there right next to it was her dirk.
"What did i do wrong?" She asked?

[Skipper]

"ahh its my fault, i should have given you a demostration" he pickd up the dirk and flipped in in the air he caught and winked at briony "this is how a pro does it" he smiled and immediantly he whipped the dirk through the air, it landed point first on the mark he had made earlier, he gave it to briony and said "make sure you shut one eye, preferabley the one on the other side and make sure you let go just above the target" once again he stood back and watched

Briony grabbed the dirk shut one eye leveled the dirk just above the mark and threw. Thud! Briony opened her eye and gasped there right in the middle of the mark stood her dirk.
"I did it......I did it hurray!" she yelled and hugged Pinetail and skipped to her dirk and did it again and again and again causing much racket.

Meanwhile, in Mossflower woods, Lord Barrenstripe and his selected Long Patrol hares were wanderig towards Redwall, which they could see in the distance. Barrenstripe was a kind badgerlord and chose mostly younger hares who had never been to Redwall.

[Skipper]

Pinetail smiled "i knew you could do it" his eyes lit up "what about a more harder target eh?" he scanned the area around him and pointed to an apple hanging from a branch "remember what you have learned and it wont be hard" he watched Briony full of confidence that she could do it

Aleeta quickly skipped out of the kitchen before anybeast could discover her prank, and caught sight of Pinetail and Briony. 'Hi Pinetail! Hi Briony!'
She waved cheerily and disappeared into the gatehouse.

[Skipper]

Pinetail waved back at the mischevious Aleeta, he smiled as he wondered what tricks she would get upto next

Aleeta had made Briony off focus therefore she stopped and started again, looking at the apple she sighted just above it and...then a thud.... thud but soft and different from the wood. the apple fell down to the ground, Briony picked it up, and smiled.
