  Well, my first thought would be either he's one who likes to be really nice to people, or he might like you.  Though, I wouldn't take my advice, because I have no clue what boys think.

  Meanwhile, in Gloip.  Yeah, I live in Gloip.  It's a small town, with only five million citizens.  I know, only five million!  I live out in the sticks.    If you don't know where Gloip is, it's two jops south of Mippa.  Mippa has two billion citizens, so it's about a normal sized city.  It's one of the smaller cities in the Mars Republic, but I like it.

Talk to God first (He's got you life all planned out after all!)
Talk to your Dad next. He knows how guys think (he is one after all!) and can probably give you better advice than we could (he knows and loves you better than we ever could after all!)
Also, please guard your heart in all cases involving guys.

If he tells you you did well when you actually messed up, he's most likely just trying to flatter you.
