-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

We did! Unfortunately, the weasels found a way to release him.....still not sure how that worked.

Not really. I mean, yes, there are a lot of new people, but besides that you can sum this up as "We've gone completely crazy"...just like before.
