Where did Brian Jaques get his inspiration for the redwall books

Skipper

I don't know how he got the idea but it started when he wrote a book for blind kids which is why the books are so detailed.

Then a friend of his showed the first book to an editor... The story is on this Forum! It's on the home page.

From what I've heard, first he drew a picture of Redwall Abbey. Then, he asked himself who was going to live there. He wanted animals to live there, not humans, and he wrote the first book, and bam, the rest is history.

yes it says he was originally a milkman for the children of the blind and then he wrote detailed books. he didnt wnat it to behumans because you knew them too well. also he didnt like the books being written now all about life, it happens to you, you want a place where you can get away-a whole new world
Fun. is a fantastic band.

Right. If he made people live at the Abbey, it wouldn't have been as exciting

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind some people, (like you guys for example) but I'm glad that the series is all animal.

My favorite people: Obi Wan, Satele Shan, Jek 14, Kai, Longtooth, and Kili.

Hares couldn't run, squirrels couldn't climb, otters couldn't swim, etc. I'm glad it was animals, and with humans you couldn't have names like Wonwill and Trisscar. At least not very realistically. Just my opinion on the off-topic discussion.

I beg to differ, the Hunger Games is people related and I sure don't hear names like Katniss, Peeta, and Gale every day.

I hate it when people give good evidence, at least when it's against me. And really, who would name their kid Wonwill if they aren't a boxing hare? And I have a point with the squirrels can't climb and otters can't swim as well if they were human.

i read that he based most of his chariters on real people.

Yes, I don't know about the rest of the books, but i do know that was true for the first book.
