My 2 cents...if you're still listening to me....you're asking too much of your audience.  Go with what YOU like...its YOUR site.  Its ok to ask if it can be read clearly (meaning the colors don't clash), but asking if white is good, you'll get many different opinions, then you won't know what to do.

  I still say it shouldn't be white, but it shouldn't be that bright of a green.  Maybe a tan, or a paler green, but not that green.

Gold with green looks very nice, but I'd make the green a little darker. You don't have to take my advice.
