I saw most of it! It was pretty awesome, though not as good as Vancouver's  - then again, I may be a little biased about that :P
Rowan Atkinson was hilarious as always; just seeing his face makes me laugh.  :D
And I loved how they commemorated children's literature...the huge Voldermort was kinda scary. Too bad a big Martin didn't come in and save the day!
Haha, but great ceremonies, and now let the Games begin!

I watch some of the events, but I won't watch everything.  I actually didn't really start watching until they had the Parade of Nations come on.  Swimming and cycling on now.

I was at work so I missed the opening ceremony.  Heard good things though.  I generally don't watch anything but baseball in the summer games.  The winter ones are my favorite; I love watching hockey and curling and snowboarding.

I liked the whole Chariots of Fire thing.  I was laughing hard when Mr. Bean was texting, taking pictures, tripping the guy in first so he could win, etc.  Ah, Mr. Bean.

I missed the opening ceremony as well but its hard for me to imagine that it would even hold a candle to China's opening cermony, which was incredible, and the best I've ever seen.

I don't remember the Beijing Olympics opening.

Uhhg all I can do is watch the Olympics because I'm sick with a fever and sore throat. (Really how is it possible to get fever in summer? ???)

I hope you feel better. My favorite part of the Olympics so far is the archery.

We didn't watch the parade of nations, but I did enjoy the events before that! I was really excited to see Mr. Bean! That was hilarious! I thought they did a great job with all of it.

I didn't get to see the Beijing opening, but from what I understand London wasn't setting out to more spectacular. Basically, they were giving a history lesson of Great Britain in one ceremony.
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

Ah, I wish I could have watched it, but I can't.

I have to agree with Greypatch- the Beijing ceremony is hard to beat. Still, it was quite fun and interesting (despite its lack of LOTR references).

Anyway, I love watching the Olympics. Of course, I'll be going for Australia. The sports I'm most interested in are (in no particular order) the swimming (disappointing so far from the Aussies), equestrian, archery, the cycling events, basketball and the gymnastics. The table tennis is also fun to watch. So, pretty much all of them. ;) The diving is hard to watch for me as I have a bit of a fear of heights.
Received mostly negative reviews.

The opening ceremony was...different. While chinas was organized and such, and London's seemed to be mass confusion, I liked London's more. Although the massive baby was terrifying.

Sidenote: note that, while it takes Harry 7 years to defeat a voldemort of normal proportions, it takes marry poppins about 2 min to defeat a voldemort around 10 times the normal size :P

I loved the opening ceremonies!!!  I'm so glad that NBC rebroadcast it in the middle of the night.  I had to run errands and was going to tape it, but the TV was set to the wrong channel.  Oops!
I think the torch is really cool!!!
