Sounds highly illegal and incredibly disrespectful to the creator's original vision.
I wouldn't think the concept is any more "illegal" than any other online streaming service. The trouble with the lawsuit has to do with their licensing agreements (or lack thereof), That's what I meant, because I doubt that any of the companies would support them. not because there's something inherently wrong with filtering content. And if the audience owns something, like a book or a film, I don't see what business it is of anyone's whether they choose to skip certain scenes or write with marker over the content they don't like. Skipping over it, no, writing over it with a marker, I have more of a problem with, but whatever.

As far as the "creator's vision" goes... I suppose you would disagree with this statement as well, but from my (and others') point of view, explicit scenes and profanity-laced tirades are by no means an "essential" part of the creator's vision. Who are you to decide what is and isn't important in a work that you had no hand in creating? "Plot" and "character development" have more to them than how much skin is shown or how many four-letter-words the scriptwriter can string into one sentence. I know you think that those things don't matter, that the distinction we have between "reverent" or "irreverent" is silly and meaningless, and profanity and all of that is no big deal. If it's not a big deal to have it, though, I don't see why anyone should be upset when someone chooses not to. Because those kinds of things are ESSENTIAL to character development. I myself do not have a problem with swearing, but quite a few of my characters do. How a character speaks is a HUGE part of them, as is how they dress. For example, if you take two male characters. One of them wears exclusively long-sleeved shirts, and the other typically goes shirtless, we can derive several different pieces of character from that decision alone. Similarly, if one female character wears a midriff-baring top, and another doesn't, that's a pretty good indication as to how we are supposed to perceive those two characters. Every single minor detail all goes back into character development. Characters are the heart of everything; how they act, dress and speak is absolutely the most important thing about any work of fiction.

@Lord Daskar: Good job confusing people. I forgot myself that I was using a new avatar, and wondered if I was just about to double-post. ;)

"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

Anyone heard of VidAngel?  It's some streaming service that'll let you rent a movie for $1 and customize filters for objectionable content exactly how you want to.  We haven't tried it yet, but it looks cool and I wanna see The Maze Runner, so... yeah.  Anyone tried it?

We've used it before. It's good as far as filters go. (My little sisters watched Zootopia on it and apparently they filtered things like 'dumb' and 'shut up' and the three humped camel joke, but my sisters probably didn't pay much attention when they set the filters.)

That sounds disheartening...how much do you remember of it?
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Oh dear. That's quite frustrating.

Google Drive is a pretty good service if you forget to save often. It autosaves, so you can't lose anything, plus you can access any file on any device... Not sure how its word processing capabilities compare to Word or whatever you use, but it's pretty good. (Plus, it has spreadsheets! I love spreadsheets.)

It has that red underline under a lot of words. Whether that means misspelled or improper use (which it is often neither), I don't know, but that's one thing I don't like about it. I wish it would show word count, too.

You can access word count by going to tools.
