Has anyone seen the show or read the books? I love them to death, almost as much as Redwall! While they aren't really like Redwall at all apart from the similar species and talking animals, it is a lot like Watership down, considering how 'real' it is. People who like British animals, (foxes especially, they're the main characters more than once.) I encourage to read the books or watch the show on YouTube!

Do they have the same species as the Redwall books?

Yep, though it's not all as black and white as they are. Badgers, foxes, weasels, mice, owls, kestrels, adders, toads, deer, hares. Even a huge cat in one of the books!

Similar to the WSD tv series, characters have had a sex change from book to series.  Owl, weasel, and kestrel were all male in the story, but are all female in the tv series--and weasel has the most annoying laugh! Oy!  The series if you only stick to season 1 follows the book really well.  I've seen season 2, but I've never read another book besides the one that was about the journey to Farthing Wood so I can't compare/contrast them.

@Lutra; Oohh weasel. -_- While she does have some funny moments, most of the time she is really annoying! She and Kestrel should've stayed males. But I think Adder and Owl worked better as females. Maybe it's because I watched the show first then read the book after!

Why did they change the genders?

I'm not sure really, probably just to get more females in the group. In the first book the only really major female is Vixen, and she dosent appear till rather late in the book, and all the other females were rather minor, like Mrs Hare, Mrs Hedgehog, Mrs Rabbit etc.

Love this cartoon and I definitely recommend it! You should read the books, too, though some are better than others! I own all the books and have the three series on DVD - German DVDs as for some reason the BBC won't release it in the UK. This was before children's shows started getting more censored and there are some grim moments in the first two series (the third was somewhat dumbed down). More people should be alerted to this oldish series - but please ignore the edited version made into a film for American audiences - it is not good!!
