I apologize for the confusion caused by the narrator's use of "our," "ours" and "we." In my mind, he or she is addressing a group, but he or she is still only one character him/herself ("Time has run its course, I say...")

Another hint: the content of this poem is definitely generalized enough that one could make an argument for a number of different characters throughout the series. So the key to finding this specific character is given much more by the construction of the poem than the meaning of it.

DOCTOR: How is that news to anyone?

"I am Yomin Carr, the harbinger of doom. I am the beginning of the end of your people!" -Yomin Carr

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

Oh, my fault; but good ideas!

By construction, I didn't mean to imply "the fact that it is a poem suggests who the character is." What I meant was... well, I'm going to muck this up again, but something like... "the answer is somehow indicated by the very structure of the poem."

If you'd like, I can give another clue...

The Otters of Green Isle?
Just cereous, what makes you think that?
I'm not sure really. A few of the things in the poem led to that like the line that goes "Let the drums beat boldly" "We used our nights singing" and things like that. I just guessed that because a bunch of othere gguesses were already in.

Arven?
I forget: who was Arven?
Arven was the dibbun squirrel in Pearls of Lutra, The Abbey Warrior in The Long Patrol, And he was mentioned as Abbot in Marlfox. If none of that helps he used to say to Tansy, his hedgehog nurse, "Tansy Pansy Toogle-Doo!"

Leazo Zhellhound!

That is correct!

Quote
Let the drums beat boldly.
Enough with this dark age!
Another dawn can not go on where we sit beaten, waiting.
Time has run it's course, I say;
Here's time to turn the page!
Our land ain't done--just overrun--and we're all anticipating

Some day when we walk where we want to walk,
Helping ourselves, eating our own stock,
Ending day's doings when day's doing are done,
Loving our families beneath broad, beaming sun,
Learning the trades we have treasured and chosen,
Having whole days home by hearths when home's frozen,
Owning what's ours (it's all ours even now!)
Using our nights, and singing as we allow.
Now hear our call and heed us, those who wish to enslave us all;
Dare no longer to shut out care! War will bring care to your hall.

Good work picking that out--especially since some of those ideas (like the drums) were my subconscious associations with the Green Isle otters rather than my deliberate attempts to reference them. I probably should have paid a little bit more attention to that...

Anwyays, I was scared I'd made the poem way too general, so I'm glad it had a sort of... Green Isle feel to you.
