This idea is inspired by the books Redwall, Part of a Wildwood Book, and Mouseheart.

Ok, basically many underground (and other) creatures have gone to war. Warrior mice and berserk moles rip each other apart and burn homes everyday. Haven't thought of much story yet. There are no racial ties. There are not kingdoms for each race (Each side will be using mice, moles, lizards, etc etc. All animals will be the size they are in real life. (Yeah, moles just got ALOT bigger then they are in Redwall...) The weapons will not be swords and such. Only what is scavenged from the humans, such as kitchen knives, toothpicks, bottle caps, forks, etc... And there will also be some fortresses. This may be in an abondened subway tunnel. The fortresses will be made of everything from pebbles and clay, to styrofoam cups and cardboard boxes. There may be a system of travel, (Maybe tubes from hamster cages and vacuume cleaners?)

Ok, I've done some work on this. It's gonna be a graphic novel. There will be 4 main races and 5 Nations. They live in kinda rundown area of town, without much in the way of population. I've also got a basic storyline!  :D

Story: Ok, so basically the 5 nations are The Scavenger Nation, a nation of rats and mice that live in the walls of an apartment, scavenging/stealing from apartment owners. The second nation is The City Of Paldos, also mostly rats and mice. Basically a large city made of cups and boxes and other scavenged stuff inside an a indented alley basement thing. Next, the Federation Of Cats. Back in the days of old, cats were overlords over all mice, who they bred as food. However, an alliance between rats and mice led to independence. An uneasy truce was established between cats and vermin, but later led to war. The smaller and weaker Scavenger Nation was losing sorely, but Paldos came in and won the war, and forced cats to become lowly scavengers, in an abondened skyscraper/factory.

Sorry, phone didn't let me type more.  :-\

But a I was saying, cats teamed up to create the Federation Of Cats, hoping to re-become king of the food chain. Next we have The Raiders. They live in "The Wastes" where, to legend, roam wild dogs that rip anything and everything apart. No one has ever explored the wastes, and few exept Paldos missionary scavengers have gone beyond the street area. The wastes used to be in constant war, even though resources were abundant. The Raiders recently overtook all of the wastes, which is actually a junkyard. They are now looking for more conquest, outside of The Wastes. They allied with The Scavengers in the new war, for a big hunk of land gained. The raiders are mostly rat and mouse, but have a decent size splattering of lizards. Finnaly, we have Amphibia. An alliance of everything from lizards to frogs to turtles. They are allied with the Federation Of Cats. Ok, on to the story!

In the story the cats have done their first raid upon The Scavenger Nation, their first target. After the battle, in which they are severely harmed, the scavengers call upon Paldos for help, but their allies do not come. Currently, the scavenger king is ill, and his reckless, and usaully drunken, brother takes a wild move and raids one of Paldos' three outposts. This begins a three pronged war between the cats, the scavengers, and Paldos. Oh and I also forgot, an army of moles comes from far away, led by berserker Baxter. He says that ina land far away, where you can dig all you want, and there's odd plants growing everywhere in a field, and the only danger is the large green "tractors" that come by periodically. That is, until every time you come out of your hole a "wooden scorpion" snaps your neck.(these are mole traps btw) and he has fled here in search of help. This comes in the form of Paldos. Though they are few, they pose a large challenge on the battlefield, giving the already powerful Paldos a large advantage. Also, there's no "bad" nation, however Amphibia and The Taiders can be a bit.. Immoral and wild. Amphibia is also very tribal. Constructive critism is welcome!

Ooh. That's pretty neat. I like how it all ties in with humanity, but in an indirect way. Your storyline seems pretty solid to me, it's not generic, stereotypical, or overused. One idea, though- It'd be really neat if there was pigeon cavalry of some type. Still, though, seems to me that your world is pretty well filled-out as it is, I'm not seeing any obvious holes. :)

The Skarzs

Just an idea: something you could throw in (like a little scary story) is something like the "Place of the Wild", outside the city and far away where no one is in charge and everyone is in charge, a place where not even the strongest of the five nations dare go. ;D
(Just an funny idea)
Cave of Skarzs

Cave potato.

Scarz, thats da wastes. xD (The Dump)

Rus, thats a pretty good idea! I might use that! However, amphibia has a turtle calvary, and there are not yet any bows (all weapons are scavenged, so no steel swords and longbows.), and pigeons are birds, so many be slightly independent. However, a character that rides a pigeon might be a good idea. and maybe she could have a mount on the bird where she pulls back a rubber band, firing small steel and stone bits of such and such...

Thanks for the constructive critiscm guys!  :D

Oh, and I forgot, Amphibia is mostly an alliance between amphiian tribes, and lives in a small hole thing near Applebee's or Subway's trash.

Btw, if i find out how to place pictures in this without downloading stuff I can show you'll the fish-like pictures of the map and the scavenged wapons I made in a notebook. (My favorite is a toothpick with small needles on the tip.)

Oh this is amazing! I love it...! If you want I could draw some concept art for this...  ;D
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

Albrithr

That sounds pretty neat!  And any humans that factored into the story could be the annoying, ugly giants in their smelly, noisy metal beasts (just an idea).  Also, you probably shouldn't name any stores/restaurants- trademark issues, you know.  All in all, I like it!

@Faiyloe I've done some weapon and map concept art, however character concept art will be very useful! I'll get back to you when I think of more characters.  ;)

@Albri The rats and mice can read and comprehend a bit more than that, and I'm kinda thinking of humans to be seen more as highly dangerous and a must avoid at all costs, unless going across the dangers of the Great Divide (Road). Thnx tho!

Forgot to mention, this is gonna be a graphic novel and not a comic book.

This sounds cool! Correct me if I'm wrong, though, but shoul;dn't this go inb the Fan Works/Fan Fiction section?

Faiyloe

no it is not strictly a Redwall fanfiction it is only Redwall like. I think this is the best place for it.
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

Speaking of, you'll should read Wildwood and Mouseheart. (Wildwood is better) They're epic books.

Also: Any weapons/contraption/building ideas or sketches would be useful! However only use things that people know such as lighters and bottle caps, and not that one part in your car or a plastic piece off your toy you had when you were 3. Also, combine things so instead of a just a needle, u has a deadly toothpick with 4 needles on the tip.

Cornflower MM

Hmm.....How about they have this little building made completely out of lighters that's a really, really important building?
