Picture it. It has been nine seasons since the events of Peace to Protection. It is the last day of Autumn, and a harsh winter is about to fall over Mossflower, bringing with it snow, sleet, and hail. The snow is three or four feet deep, and, on top of this, just as the Redwallers are finishing up with preparing for it a giant bird swoops down and tells them that a great vermin horde (about 6,000) is making its way towards Redwall, led by a fearsome warlord, and then dies of exhaustion. When the horde arrives, they use Brockhall as their headquarters.

It will start a few hours before the bird's arrival. You can be (at most) three characters. You can be any creature ye want, except for wearats, swans, or the deepcoiler and other such monstrous creatures. (This means that you could be a bat, snake, lizard, toad, hawk, etc...

So, anyone want to join?

As a suggestion, I might keep the setting, but take out the vermin horde and attack on Redwall.

Yes, I really am serious. We have virtually no stories that involve Redwall or its creatures in winter; if that harsh of a winter season is coming up, it seems that there would be room for a story simply about surviving the elements, and helping those who don't have the advantage of the Abbey's four walls -- helping others is the Redwall Order's mission, after all, according to Redwall.

Having such a harsh winter also leads one to question how a massive horde could survive at all. Also, the "vermin attack Redwall" story is overdone -- of the RPs we have going so far, every one except "The Quest For The Sword" involves the vermin directly attacking the Abbey.

Most of these stories also involve great hordes, which in my opinion are also slightly overdone -- what happened to the classical horde of five hundred vermin? Building a horde larger than Damug Warfang's, or especially Ferahgo's, should be a rare, epic accomplishment, not something that any random vermin can just scrape up. Besides, supplying six thousand troops, on the move, would be an extraordinarily difficult task for any nomadic warlord, and it would be downright suicidal in a winter season like this.

So that's my suggestion -- if the horde is kept, I'd reduce it to a much smaller number, say one to two hundred, and maybe have the additional plot twist that they're so battered down by the storm that they're willing to peacefully reside at the Abbey, at least as long as the harsh weather lasts. This adds in the additional plot problem of how the abbeydwellers will cope with having a large number of vermin at hand, and how they'll keep them provided for without giving them room to take over.

That's what I propose -- I know it might not sound like the most interesting story to some, but I think it gives everyone room for some quality role-play, and it would be unique -- not just another "defend Redwall" plot, which there are already plenty of, not even counting the original books.

hmm james has a point there but also RPs are for "fun and fantasizing" therefor it is possible if we just let it for a 6k horde to survive a killer winter. as for accurate RPs, these are made just to have a loose relation to the actual redwall serise and just use the same format and places. but as far as imagination can go...anything can happen :). HiaG u have a great plot there but i do agree tht 6k is a little over done. i would settle for about 2-3k cause...well brocktree isnt big enough for a 6k horde lol. but great plot ;)

I have a quick question. Can I have Long Patrol hares that are staying at Redwall for the winter? (It would be a very small patrol of hares. There would only be about 5-6 hares there. I would be two of them.)

I'll join! I wanted to do something diferent from my usualy choice of squirrel or otter though. So I'm being original. And the characters names are in another language, which translates into "Dark Heart" and "Thunderbolt King." Here's my characters:

Morena Seio
Species: Wildcat.
Gender: Male.
Appearence: Wears only a belt and vest. He is solid black with orange eyes and the tip of his tail is reddish coloured.
Age: About forty seasons, but he's not quite sure.
Weapons: His claws and fangsm usually. Will also use anything and everything as a weapon.
Occupation: Wanderer.
Alleigences: Loner. He's pretty much neutral, but he hates all other wildcats.

Raio Rei

Species: Golden Eagle
Gender: Male
Appearence: Solid gold feathers. One black pinion feather in his right wing. Very big. Blazing gold eyes.
Age: He has no idea, but he looks and acts about middle-aged. He's in his prime, at the very least.
Weapons: Talons and beak. He also can deal out some pretty painful wacks with his wings.
Occupation: Hunter. He hunts vermin.
Alleigences: Goodbeast. But has a tendancy to eat things smaller than himself.
