Start (Windows key) > In the search bar, type in 'dxdiag' and hit enter > 'System' tab, under 'Model Number' it'll show your computer's number.

...Err... Assuming you're on Windows 7. Which hopefully you are. I'm not a fan of Windows 8, myself.

Sadly, I am not on a Windows 7 and man, I really hate Windows 8! I found this one for a good price though so I just went ahead and got it.

Windows 8 makes sense on a tablet.
If I wanted a tablet I'd buy a tablet.
I want a computer, not a tablet.
Thus, Windows 8 doesn't make sense to me at all.

Regardless, this details how to do the same thing on Windows 8. It is, of course, more complicated.

That should work just fine for word processing and internet browsing, as long as you don't need to do much gaming or graphical processing or anything like that, you shouldn't need anything more.
