The minecraft lotr mod

I've installed the mod, put into the mod folder and it still isn't doing anything.

Make sure you select 'Forge' as your profile on the launcher.

 Do you have the correct version of forge? You need to have forge for minecraft 1.7.10 (recommended version)

I really wish I could help you, but I can't troubleshoot very well without being able to see and use your computer.

Is your game crashing or just being vanilla? Are you getting the white text on your main menu screen that verifies that you've installed forge correctly? If your game is crashing, can I have your crash log?

I like mods, but I try not to use them because they can cause problems.

Only if you download them from untrustworthy sites (ie anywhere other than Minecraft Forums), download bad, unfinished, or buggy mods, or install them incorrectly. Otherwise they're fine, aside from the occasional glitch or frame drop.

 Also, Del, make sure that you're running minecraft 1.7.10. The mod does not work on 1.8

No, right now, I have the lotr in the mod folder but it won't allow me to use the mod still, and I am using the Forge profile.

 Hmm... Are you using the 1.7.10 version of forge, and not the earlier versions?

 Wait.. The launcher works, right? Can you log into the game?

Yes, Minecraft works fine, and I can get on the game but I can't use the mod.

 Wait.. If you log into the world in creative, see if any of the lotr stuff is there on creative.
