So, who's seen this movie?

I thought it was pretty good, only it left a lot to be desired with the ending....

Don't read if you haven't seen TBotFA!
Like, they didn't explain what happened to Tauriel and the Lake-town residents. (Having read the book, I know that they rebuilt Dale (and possibly part of Esgaroth [Lake-town]), but those who haven't read the book must really be confused.)

But I really liked the movie despite the unsatisfying conclusion and the fact that there was a little too much battling. And anyway, they'll probably wrap things up better in the Extended Edition.

What did you guys think of it?

I loved this movie. I do agree with you Madam Sling on the ending. I also felt like it had a little TOO much CGI though. Besides these flaws, another win by Peter Jackson!
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

I haven't seen the full movie, but I've heard enough about it to come to the conclusion that much of it is absolute rubbish. The visuals are pretty awesome (at least from those fragments I have seen), and the plot makes sense, but something's missing...... accuracy to the original book. Besides the quite ridiculous addition of Tauriel-Kili, the movie also adds things such as were-worms (only mentioned in the books once, by a hobbit, and probably just mythical), Azog (Bolg would've been a fine, as well as lore-accurate, villain), and the whole necromancer plotline. (The necromancer thing was cool, granted, but it distracts us from the main plot of the movie). I know no movie has to be 100% accurate to the book, but this movie adds new things seemingly for the sake of adding new things. Many of the new additions (like Tauriel and were-worms) don't add anything to the plot, and only serve to further confuse and irritate Tolkien fans. And thus concludes my rant.

Thank you Izeroth for sparing me from having to rant as well! ;D ;D ;D
Dreams, dreams are untapped and writhing. How much more real are dreams than that paltry existence which we now call reality? How shall we ascend to that which humanity is destined? By mastering the dreamworld of course. That is how, my pupils, that is how.

Also, Legolas killed EVREYBODY. PJ shoulda known that we had enough Legolas awesomeness in the previous five movies. Sigh.  ::)

I liked BotFA, it was more accurate to the book than Desolation, paced better than Desolation and looked awesome. Plus the fire didn't hurt my eyes this time (though the flashing Sauron did) As for the Necromancer plotline, that's canon, just never shown in the books only talked about. Out of the trilogy I only legitimately hated Desolation, Journey was ok and BotFA was almost as good as the Lord of the Rings (films)
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

I know the necromancer is canon, but I still think it destracts from the main plotline. Also, the thing about the orcs coming out of Dol Guldar is not canon. The orcs actually came from the Misty Mountains.

Interesting, honestly, I liked the first two best of all! ;D

I Loved it! A few things that were just plain dumb! But it was good!
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

WHo noticeedd that the Dwarves beheaded almost every single orc in the movie? and why was legolas almost bested by one? It was mostly enjoyable.

Bolg was stronger than the other Orcs, and Thranduil did most of the beheading I thought.

I liked the movie, although the fact that Legolas ran up collapsing masonry, and rode a giant bat by clinging to its claws was a bit weird. Although, as an Elf, he can walk on snow, so who's to say he can't run up collapsing stone?

Izeroth

Legolas shouldn't have even been a main character in the movie, in my opinion. He takes attention away from the real main characters.

Yeah, like the bit where the troll bashed his head into the wall to let everyone else in and then promptly collapsed. It was humorous when it shouldn't've been, in my opinion. Also, Kíli's declaration of love for Tauriel was a bit cheesy: "You make me feel alive!"

Then, of course, there was the bit where Legolas ran up collapsing masonry, which should've been cool, but came off a little cheesy with the slow-motion. If I remember correctly, some people in the theater were laughing a little at that point.

And then there were the unfinished story-threads which were never tied up. For example, there was the
Spoiler
charge of the Lake-town women into the battle. It never showed what happened to them after the initial charge. I think they should've removed that scene altogether and perhaps put it in the Extended Edition with a proper follow-up scene.

Also, while Alfrid was funny, he was given too much screen time.

Wow, it makes it sound like I really hated it. I didn't. It was enjoyable, and I'd like to see it again.
