Mummified my teenage dreams
No there's nothing wrong with me
The kids are all wrong
The story's all off
Heavy metal broke my heart

The fastest way to a man's heart- Or anyone's, in fact- Is to tear a hole through their chest.

Indeed. You are as ancient as the soot that choked Pompeii into oblivion, though not quite as uncaring. - Rusvul

Just a butterfly struggling through my chrysalis.

Funny, those lyrics, because heavy metal is one of my favourite music genres.

What's the difference between heavy metal and metal?

There isn't, really.  Metal is kind of all-encompassing, consisting of hard rock/heavy metal as well as alternative metal and death/black metal, but when people say "metal," they're probably referring the to hard rock/heavy or alternative subgenres.  Bands in these genres are often cross-listed between them.  If people mean death metal, they're likely going to specify death metal.

Examples:
Hard rock/heavy metal: Disturbed, Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest
Alternative metal: Avenged Sevenfold, Devil Wears Prada
Heavy and alternative: Slipknot, Pantera, Tool, Korn
Death metal: Lamb of God

My explanation was much simpler. :P

Com'on com'on
And let me in
The bruises on your thighs like my fingerprints
And this is supposed to match
The darkness that you felt
I never meant for you to fix yourself
