The wildcat snarled at Duncan. "Impossible! If there's one thing I know about woodlanders, it's thst they always have a weakness for each other. Let's see just how far you can go..."

Fardan set the edge of his blade against Petu's throat.

"Yeah, but him..." Duncan shook his head sadly.
"He's far too annoying and eats too much. If you caught him, he's your game, fairly. It's such a burden to have him always thinning our rations!"
Spinning on his paws, Duncan made to leave.

Hickory

His yellow eyes narrowed, Fardan smiled maliciously. "Fine. Have it your way."

He twirled his blade away from Petu, then slashed across the rabbit's leg, leaving a long, deep slice. "You can watch your friend bleed out. But, of course, there's still you."

Fardan bounded over Petu towards Duncan.

Duncan whirled round and charged headlong at Fardan with his dagger out, aiming a powerful kick at the cat's legs to knock him down or at least unbalance him.
Even warlords made mistakes...

OOC-
How bout some filler battle here till Grodds can make the Vigil do something (and finally me with Alf?)

Releasing a sharp yell Petu applied pressure to his cut leg, shuddering as blood oozed between his claws. The sharp rapier had cut clean through an artery leaving the young rabbit feeling faint almost the moment Fardan had left him to deal with Duncan. Taking deep breaths Pete suppressed the urge to panic looking around for someone to help him. Everyone was busy fighting for their lives, trying to keep the horde from entering the main Abbey building.

"C'mon Duncan," Petu whispered tearing off some of his old bandages that were wrapped around his shoulder, and pressing them against his leg. "Get them out of Redwall, you have too..."

Rapshade slunk around the back of the chaos and noticed Petu on the far side.
He couldn't help but grin as he whipped out his sword and sauntered over there.
"Poor bunny's got a leg wound, eh? How do you like it? Can't run away...can't do anything t' defend yourself. I could kill you now and Duncan wouldn't notice."
The ferret lashed his tail.
"I'm not gonna help; not gonna kill you, either, but when we win and you're chosen to stand by and clean up whatever we drop at our victory feast you'll wish I had. Mortembell too, when we catch 'er. I'll tell her to be extra careful."

OOC: @Groddil  Hey Aussie mate, don't forget this.

"Rapshade," Petu gasped in surprise as the ferret approached. His ears drooped in fear, hadn't Rapshade been fighting Aver? He had seen them dueling across the lawns when they had come up from Moledeep. What could have happened to get them separated from their fight, surely the brave otter chieftain hadn't been slain. Surely...
"Why'd you run from Aver?" He asked trying to sound defiant, however there was a definite whimper in his voice. "Are you trying to find defenseless creatures like me to taunt instead? You couldn't fight a real warrior like Aver for long, I - I knew it."

Rapshade grinned crookedly.
"Aver is lying wounded," he whispered, tweaking Petu's ear.
He would shamelessly take the credit for the otter's defeat.
Raising his voice to a cackle, the ferret marched around Petu and kicked at his injured leg. "Woe is to the one who doubts me! Woe to the rabbit, the otter, and the fox! Woe upon my wretched aunt, too. I alone will rule Redwall, Petu!"

Cap'n's mad, echoed a voice from his head.
Loony raving mad.

"And th' spirits of my dead crew will...Vadoma!?"
Rapshade backed up limpingly as the ancient vixen slunk up to them.
He quickly wiped blood away from his snout.

The healer bared her teeth.
"I foresee victory on this night, Shade. Why not end this wretched rabbit?"

Hickory

Fardan faltered to avoid the kick. "Stop that! If you were a real warrior, you'd actually cross blades with me. Stand and fight!"

He held his sword aloft and started towards the hare.

Recoiling from Rapshade's kick Petu groaned as tears were forced from his eyes. "Stop, please stop." He begged as his wounded leg throbbed. The young rabbit watched wide eyed as the seemingly crazed ferret strode around him, shaking nervously. He jerked his head around as the vixen approached, he had never met Vadoma, but he knew immediately who she was from Mortembell's stories.

"I foresee victory on this night, Shade. Why not end this wretched rabbit?"

"No, Rapeshade please," he moaned, squirming away from the two vermin. "I'll do anything, just don't kill me." He looked beseechingly to Rapshade, his mouth dry. "You said you would let me live, I can't fight, please."

Rapshade shuffled past Vadoma after whispering to her, "I foresee victory, too, but I need my medicine. Why not make yourself useful an' go get it...?"
The vixen snorted and hustled off, leaving Rapshade again with Petu.
Sniveling, begging Petu...
The ferret set his jaw.
"Not killing my enemies is what got me here in th' first place. I have every reason t' want to. But," he flicked his sword at him.
"I like this making creatures like y' owe me..."

Duncan drew his blade but aimed another kick at Fardan nonetheless.
"I could care less about titles, I'm trying to bother you and it's working."

Hickory

The wildcat jumped back. "Kill him!" he yelled at Rapshade. "Prove that you're not as weak as I thought! The rabbit will die anyway."

He aimed a swipe at Duncan.

"I killed Log-a-Log in battle," Rapshade snapped, looking up at Fardan and Duncan.
"Surely that's more impressive than taking the life of the already injured?"

Duncan ducked but the blow caught his ear, leaving a long line of blood.
From down below where he was he aimed his dagger at Fardan's legs or tail, whichever came closer first.

"Owe you..." Petu grimaced at the idea, revolted by the fact that it would be true. But what could one rabbit do for somebeast like Rapshade? Not that it mattered, the Vigil would be coming soon to turn the tide of the battle. The Redwallers only had to hold out for a little longer. Petu decided it was best to simply go along with Rapshade's wishes, hopefully extending his life beyond the battle's end.

When Fardan urged the ferret to take Petu's life the rabbit shrank back, fearfully glancing from mustelid to wildcat in apprehension. He relaxed somewhat again once it was clear Rapshade would stick to his original plan, avidly hoping Duncan would manage to slay the bloodthirsty cat.
"Thank you," he said to Rapshade, sounding as meek as he felt. Petu was good at being meek, seeing as he was a rabbit. "I don't want to die, least not today. I promised to do what you want, and - and I will... What exactly do you want?"

Rapshade flicked an ear, not looking at him.
"For you to spare me when the tables turn. Hopefully that isn't too much to ask? It's no problem if you won't, then I'll kill you."
