Once, maybe? Year 6, effectively a leavers' party under a different name. They just don't want to say it's a celebration that we're leaving.

Well, most proms in real life won't quite be like this.

Heh, boys have it easy. All they have to do is summon up the courage to ask and possibly risk rejection. Us girls are left in the dark, completely ignorant of what's going on and having to trust other beasts with our fate.

And what do you mean, left in the dark?  Guys are usually pretty obvious if they like ya; they don't play mind games like girls    (These are all generalized things, of course)
