I think they are! I haven't read them for years, but I did love them at the time. Jaina was my favourite.

Star Wars for me exists as the original triology with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, the other parts (prequels, cartoons) I could care less about.  The story was good enough as it was without George Lucas branching off with other storylines.

I personally enjoy the whole spin-off thing. I like the CW (well, some of it), especially the fact that Darth Maul is back, and no longer insane.
