Has anyone else ever pronounced it "Less Misarabelis?" That's what I called it until I heard it pronounced Lay Mizerob (That's how it SOUNDS, not how it's SPELLED).
Actually, it's lay mi-ze-rab-bl

Mattio

huh I wondered where those letters went in the pronounciation

Icefire

I've seen the movie twice now and I've loved it both times!

...I also didn't cry either time....I am a hard-hearted creature! Although, it does help that this has been my favorite musical for 12-ish years and I know what's coming in each scene...

My favorite version is still the 10th anniversary, but I'm a bit biased after 12 years!:D
Living in peace, aye many a season,
Calm in life and sound in reason,,
'Til evil arrives, a wicked horde,
Driving a warrior to pick up his sword,
The challenger rings then, straight and fair,
Justice is with us, beware. Beware!

KitrallStreamrippler

I saw this recently with two of my friends. I very rarely cry during movies, but- *eyes fill with tears* yeah. I first lost it at the part about the kid and the medal. Then, at the very end (with Fantine and the last song), my friend just silently passed me the tissues.

(I hope I didn't reveal anything- I tried to be really vague.)
A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!

Icefire

I recently saw a picture of just the medal with the caption "you know you've seen the movie when this image alone is enough to send you to tears." That part would totally make me cry if I were to cry....which I don't because I'm a calloused creature. :P

I loved Gavroche I was so sad when he died I have been working in his accent for a few weeks

Icefire

That is one of the most sad parts, I'd say. The first time I watched this, there was a group of girls who obviously were not familiar with the musical sitting a short ways from me. They all gasped loudly when he died....I had to force myself not to laugh.

DOCTOR: How is that news to anyone?

"I am Yomin Carr, the harbinger of doom. I am the beginning of the end of your people!" -Yomin Carr

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

I still love the 10th anniversary version too. It's better than the 25th, in my opinion.

That bit with the medal got me too!

The first time I saw it I was sitting next to two women who obviously had no idea what they were getting in to. The movie finished and one turned to the other and said, "So. Much. Singing!" I almost turned around and told them that it was a musical, what did they expect, but I held my tongue. ;)

Icefire

MUCH better than the 25th. For one thing, the orchestra was more.....epic I guess you could say. Besides that, they didn't call it the Dream Cast for nothing!
I will admit that the 25th is easier to follow, but really the only reason I would ever watch it again is because I like Samantha Barks, whatshisface who played Valjean (still prefer Colm, though) and whatshisface who played Javert....that guy was pretty epic.

I had a friend do something similar, too. He's read the book, but somehow missed that this was a musical adaption and said the singing got on his nerves a bit. :P REALLY?!?!

I thought Valjeans voice was a bit forced not natural

Lily

I like Samantha Barks too, I was so happy for her when she was cast in the movie.

Norm Lewis played Javert in the 25th anniversary. I loved him too! I have a soft spot for Philip Quast, though. He's Australian. ;)

Mattio

hahaha Did anyone cry at Empty chairs

I'm assuming you mean in the movie. Yes, Russel Crowe is definitely not a singer. I think he looks the part, but he struggles with he singing and acting at the same time. He would probably do better in a non-musical adaption of this story.

Thank you! Norm Lewis! I think of Javert as passionate for the law, which is why I liked both men in the role. Philip Quast was very precise in his singing as a good law keeper ought to be. Norm Lewis has the passion! Together they meet/surpass/set the standard....that Russel Crowe couldn't quite meet. I thought he did a fine job, though.

...Not recently. Not for the movie....I may have teared up some watching the 10th once, but as I've stated previously, I'm rather hard-hearted. :P
