Does anybody read the books? They are so good!

Aldeneg

I love the Mistmantle Chronicles!!! I actually have all the books.  ;D It's a shame M.I McAllister isn't planning on writing anymore Mistmantle books.

Buzz_Bumble

I think I've only got one, but keep meaning to get the others ... along with everything else, when I win Lotto.   :)

Redwallfan7

I love  the Mistmantle Chronicles :). I read the first book and I own it.

I adore these books - or the ones I've read, at least! I'm having trouble getting my hands on the next books in the series, unfortunately.

I didn't know that. How disappointing. :'(

If you're buying them new, then BookDepository.co.uk or BookDepository.com might be good places to try - they have good prices and free worldwide shipping. :)

I'm not sure how old some of them are, but for older ones or second-hand ones you could try somewhere like AbesBooks.com.

Redwaller

It's good to see that there's people that read them besides me!

I finished the third book last week, but I didn't see the last two.(maybe at some other library around here.)

Hmmm, maybe we could make an RP for that?

Oh no!  :'(

I don't know the details about her not writing anymore books but I've been told by several sources that she wrote on her blog that the 5th Mistmantle book "Urchin and the Rage Tide" was the last of the series and that she wouldn't be writing anymore. Really disappointing because the Mistmantle Chronicles has to be my favorite (next to Redwall, of course.)

Ooh thank you!

Does anybody know if she said why she wouldn't be continuing the series? Or at least what the ending would have been? XD Gah, I can't stand it when authors do that - get you hooked on a series and then never finish it. Bother.

Well, since there are so many of us who have read (some of) the books, which are your favorites and why?

As long as the author finishes the series in a fitting manner, then it's probably better to end it while it's still popular.

It really annoys me is when the fools stop a series in the middle - this happens with books, TV shows, and even ranges of toys that suddenly go missing (usually after huge amounts of hype to get people watching / buying). >:(

I've read all the books (as stated before) and she did end the series in a good way. I can't tell how because the whole thing is a major spoiler, but she did choose a good place to end the series. :)
As for my favorite book, I'd have to say the first one. It was the one that started it all! :D

The reason she really isn't writing anymore is because the series ended with the final book, Urchin and the Rage Tide.  I've read all five books, and they're a good read.  I actually had a Mistmantle vs. Redwall page up for a long time online.  The characters are far more gray than any of Mr. Jacques' characters, so they're more human, more likely to be like you or your neighbor or a good friend.  They're worth reading if you can find them.  The last book went out of print rather fast in the states.

Good! That means there isn't a signifcant cliffhanger. I can now search out the rest of the books without feeling I've lost an epic battle. :D

Ah, same here! This book had me hooked from the first paragraph. Excellent descriptive writing, villains you'd love to hate, and generally wonderfully relateable characters - I adored Urchin from the first! -  the underlying morals are all good, too! Fabulous book. I'm going to  have to re-read it now, haha. Once I have the rest of the series...
