They had walked for a short time when they reached a part of the ditch which was not as thick as the rest. Climbing down into the ditch and back up was out of the question it was still to muddy and wet but with the help of a branch as a bridge or a poll jump they could make it. "We should be able to cross here with some help," Vatra said turning and scanning the forest "We would need a good right branch though,"
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

"Like this one?" Bryant asked, holding up a decent branch.

Ash looked at the branch in Bryant's paw and nodded.  "Yeah, that should work.  Um, why don't you jump across, then pass the branch to the next beast?  So that we don't have to get several branches, I mean."

"Okay, sure." Bryant agreed. He'd already tested the stick, and it would take his weight. So, he backed up a few paces, started running, and vaulted across. "Ready?" He asked.

Rainshadow

Ash nodded her head and planted her footpaws wide, holding her hands out to catch the makeshift pole.  This task she was about to do made the she-cat think of the seasonal feasts, especially the summer feast.  All the games they would play on the battlements, the greasy pole-climbing competition, and her least favourite event: pole vaulting.  It wasn't that height bothered the wildcat, but she didn't like putting her trust in a flimsy stick that could snap at any instant.  Oddly enough, she was good at that competition.  Strange.

Bruyant kept the stick end in the ditch, and pushed the end towards the wildcat.

Catching it, the Wildfire took a deep breath and stepped back, mentally and physically preparing herself for the task to come.  Then, with a few hops to get herself loosened up, Ash charged forward, planted the end of the pole in the ditch, and flung herself over the gap, landing awkwardly on the ground.

"Ah!" she cried, dropping the branch and clutching her paw.  It had twisted when she'd landed, and the she-cat was sure it had been sprained.  Great, the quest had scarcely begun, and already she'd injured herself!

Bryant went over quickly, with a look of concern on his face. "May I tsake a look, Ash?" He asked. The squirrel had rudimentary healing skills, but he might be able to help. Might.

Rainshadow

Ash nodded and let go of her footpaw, stretching it out to get it closer to the squirrel.  It hurt, but hopefully Bryant could make it hurt less.  Walking on a sprained footpaw from Redwall to Salamandastron would be quite painful.

Bryant took a look, noting the way Ash's face twisted into a grimace. "It's sprained, all right." He wasn't so much of a healing dummy that he couldn't tell a sprain when he saw one. Well, it was really the way she landed that tipped him off. "I'll go see if I can find something to make a poultice." He said, before going over to the stick, and calling across to Vatra, "Swinging the stick over!" Right after he did that, (He couldn't very well leave Vatra over there), he went to find some herbs.

OOC: Very slight PP there. Should I change it, Rain?

Bryant had caught her off guard when he tossed the the stick back across the ditch. She lunged forward to catch it but it bounced off her paw and fell into the ditch she cursed and a look of frustration crossed her face.  Before she could let it get to her she turned and started back to the trees to get a new one saying "I'll get another,"

OOC:  Sorry, I was gone all of Wednesday and Thursday, so I was only able to get on with my Kindle, and I hate RPing with my Kindle.  Takes way too long.

Ash grunted, nodding in a jerking fashion, grinding her fangs so as to not start crying.  That would be quite embarrassing, crying in front of other beasts, especially since they were on a very important quest.  Quests didn't call for crying Dibbuns, they called for seasoned warriors!  So the only noise that came out of the she-cat's mouth now was a long, high, hissing groan, which proved not to help in any way, but somehow made her feel better.

Bryant soon back, and heard the end of the groan. "I'm sorry, Ash." He sympathized, getting a poultice ready.
