Dibbun Against Bedtime

I accuse this following person as part of the Mafia: Banya!
"An' if on an empty tummy I'm slain,
Then I'll jolly well never get killed again,
So pass the pudden an' fetch those pies,
An' I'll give the foebeast a rotten surprise!"

Care to share your reasoning?
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.

I can see why you would choose that DAB. I mean, the leader of the town, killing her own people just to keep them doing her will. Seems logical to me.
I want the world of Tolkien,
The message of Lewis;
The adventure of Jacques,
And the heart of Milne.
But I want the originality of me.

It's interesting to think about. Banya could be a member of the Mafia and no one would suspect her. On the other hand, that's quite unlikely. For now I think DAB looks the most suspicious due to accusing Banya without giving a reason. In other stories I have read, there have been clues to the identities of the Mafia, for example one man was contacted privately that he managed to shoot his attacker in the leg and the next morning one of the players (of their game of life) was limping, (he didn't manage to catch on though), will we be getting anything like that?

I didn't know we had to give a reason. If you want one, here you go: Everyone suspects the sulking members but Banya is just trying to put up a facade to cover it up. Also, as Gonff said:

So there you have my reasons for picking Banya.

Banya

Mmm.  I can refute that argument.  Pay attention now.

To refute your two arguments, DAB, I will begin by saying that I read Gonff's comment in a sarcastic tone, and I address that further down.  Secondly, the "facade" you think I am putting up was not put up by me; my leadership role is part of the storyline.  If you're referring to my earlier post, know that my purposes in posting were threefold: firstly, to get the story going (and yet as you can see many other members have yet to post), to continue Sky's plot that includes me in a position of leadership, and lastly because it would make sense to me if at least one Mafia member were hanging back.  By that, I refer to my previous experiences playing this game, in which one or more Mafia members were often quiet and watched the townspeople frantically accuse each other.  I have found that the more I am involved with the story, the more I will be aware and able to catch slip-ups a Mafia member might make.

My arguments are further explained:  Our narrator, Sky, already told us in the story that I, as the eldest, am looked to as a leader.  I clearly wouldn't need to kill off Rainshadow, the moderator, when I am already looked to as a leader.  I didn't ask for this position, and I didn't kill for the position, but I guess that's how the narrator determines the story goes.
I am not a mayor, president, dictator, or other type of de jure ruler; I am the leader of the group by virtue of being the oldest, by definition a "guiding or directing head."  That's not a power pull, and so I would have no need of killing my fellow townspeople to maintain power.
On that note, I can't understand why I would be named leader of the group if Sky had made me a member of the Mafia.
I was nervous when Sky put my name in her narration, because that immediately brings attention to me.  The significance of that lies in the fact that I would have to go back to the first page to get a list of all 10 of us (now 9) playing, and to try to remember each townsperson throughout the story.  By naming me leader (and effectively hanging me out to dry, as the saying goes) it is put into your minds that I am present, and that I may or may not be a threat to each of you.  If I were one of only two Mafia members, Sky would not have named me in her narration; being outnumbered 5:1 would have made a quick end to the game.  Now that I have been sort of called out, I feel like I am suddenly an easy target for the Mafia.

Following that logic, I accuse DAB of being a member of the Mafia.  My reasoning follows:
DAB is a new member here.  He doesn't yet know each of us, our characteristics and personalities, and he probably hasn't yet met each member.  He did, however, arrive to the forum just in time to witness Rain ascend to mod position; he knows who Rain is and likely knows of her lovably crazy and unique personality and saw her as someone outspoken enough to be a threat.  This seems to be also what caused him to accuse me: he saw my name in the narration and accused me of being in the Mafia without reason or explanation.  It makes sense that he would want to take the townspeople out rapidly, and so accused the first person he saw who he knew was not his fellow Mafia member.

SKY: Which format are we playing here?  Do all the townspeople need to accuse one person?  In the version I play with my friends, two people are accused, and being accused requires a simple "I second that accusation," and then the townspeople vote.  Person on the chopping block with the most votes is executed.

I see your reasons, and see why you would see DAB as doing it. So Banya, I guess I will say that DAB could be the Mafia. Most of the evidence is there, so this is a high possibility. Of course I would have picked Jett next, but those are minor details.

Also, with Sky's caring nature, she would want to give DAB a chance. Seems like a nice thing to do personally.

OOC: Enjoying this :)

The way we played it is that everyone votes for one person, and majority rules in who gets kicked out.

My rules are flexible, however. If it doesn't work so well this way, we can change them. But this our first time and I would like to try it like this :) Also, feel free to put in suggestions.

I will put up a poll to make the voting simpler.

@Gonff: I think the likelihood of both Mafia members being involved in the story already, particularly when so many other townspeople have yet to make an entrance, is slim.  I would go with either DAB or Jet as one of the members, and the other being someone who has been watching this thread but waiting to post.  It's too early to tell who that could be.  It would makes sense for them to want to watch the townspeople accusing each other before making an inconspicuous entrance.

@Sky: A poll sounds like a good idea.  I forgot we have that option.  Any idea why so many members haven't joined the discussion yet?

Skyblade

OOC: Maybe because I waited a bit to start, and people forgot about this? :P ;)

Also, I'm taking a little risk here, but I'll be fine if people who aren't in the game vote too. Sounds fun and interesting! ;D

Banya, as Skeebop said:

QuotePeople began to quarrel, and conflict broke out. Though everyone agreed to resolve it peacefully and leave such bitter fights in the past, two members thought otherwise. Unknown to the others, they formed their own little Mafia.

Maybe Banya was still afraid conflict would break out so she took out a potential ringleader? Just a thought.

You know, Jet, the clues thing is very interesting. I could try that, but I'll see. I don't want to make it too obvious. Like that idea, though :)

@DAB: The flaw in that argument is that Rainshadow was appointed to a position of moderator within the community.  That she was appointed by us shows that no one saw her as a potential ringleader.

@Sky: I also like the idea of subtle clues throughout the story; could they be about the two Mafia members, the doctor, and the sheriff?

Skyblade

All, but I will see what I can do. I may or may not, as I'm not sure how good I am at it ;)
