@Fatch of Southsward:  I cancel out smileys by putting empty italics tags (or any tags, really) in between each part, like so:

8)
"The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater." ~J.R.R. Tolkien

Thanks to all those who've commented on the emoticon issue. In a perfect world, I could easily change 8) to something else (less likely to be used for non-emoticon purposes), but that would break every usage of that emoticon in the forum's past, and I'm not quite feeling up to a search-and-change romp through the database to change all instances of 8) right now. Maybe sometime, though.

Did the forum go down recently for anyone else?

Almost every time I visited for the past day or two, I got a white screen with a message from Sooper-Grape, talking about errors.

I made a big blunder the other day when I was working on themes, and the site was down probably from 7 PM to 1 AM CST. That's probably it.

The forum has seemed wider to me, on my both my laptop and my mom's computer. Someone else mentioned it to me as well. What's up with that, James?

James Gryphon

It used to have something like 90% margins. I switched it to 99% to try to make better use of window space in the Experimental theme, and figured I'd import it to Core when I merged the themes.

I see. It's not a bad change, just taking some time to get used to.

Skyblade

I think it's good. It actually reminds me of the old forum.

How does one delete a post?
The fastest way to a man's heart- Or anyone's, in fact- Is to tear a hole through their chest.

Indeed. You are as ancient as the soot that choked Pompeii into oblivion, though not quite as uncaring. - Rusvul

I think you can delete it if someone hasn't replied to it.

You can edit it out, but I don't think members can delete posts or topics.

I sometimes have the option to remove my own posts.

That's weird. I don't think I've ever been able to.

On another note, that does sound convenient. Why don't we have that option?

Thanks, MatthiasMan, for the avatar!

As far as why this isn't an option: there's too much potential for abuse, with limited upside. Anyway, if somebody has a valid reason to want a post to be removed, they can request for the staff to do so.

That really is making too much sense to my brain. How can it be abused?
"In the meantime, no one should roam the camp alone. Use the buddy system."
"Understood." Will looked at Nico. "Will you be my buddy?"
"You're a dork," Nico announced.
