Well, Mafia is currently a little over-stocked in the number of games, so I'm gonna start this game instead.

Now, I REALLY suggest you go here to read the basics of the game, and here for the roles. We needs lots more people than Mafia, just saying. I'll post more when we get enough sigh-ups.

Players:
Vilu the Latin-speaker
Banya the Streamdog
Rocktree the Captain
Sam the Silent
Sand the Lieutenant
Sky the Blade
Eulalia the Sissy Eliminated by the Mafia. Framer.
Rrrrr the Growler

Oh, I enjoy this game.  I like to play it on Steam.  Is it possible, for our games, to stick with just the level-1 roles?  We'd need a max of 15 people and a min of 8.

I guess. (actually, I'm still moderately new to this, having played only a few online games, but I'll try to pretend that I actually understand what you're talking about [but I don't hneed much help])

EDIT: Take it back. What are the levels for and what are they?

The levels determine the roles in play.  Level 1 is the most simple, but the game is complicated even at that level.  I've only played level 1 games, and I don't feel they're lacking in anything.

Level 1 Town roles are Sheriff, Doctor, Investigator, Jailor, Medium, Escort, Lookout, Town Killing (either Veteran or Vigilante), and Random Town (usually Mayor, Spy, or Transporter).  (If there are 10 or fewer players, Random Town, Town Killing, and Lookout are not in play.  If there are 8 or fewer players, the Escort is not in play.)
Level 1 Mafia roles are Godfather, Mafioso, and Framer.  (If there are 10 or fewer players, the role of Framer is not in play.)
Level 1 Neutral roles are Jester, Executioner, and Serial Killer.  (If there are 10 or fewer players, either the Jester or Exe is in play, not both.  If there are 8 or fewer players, the Serial Killer is not in play.)

They're all explained on the Roles page, but the page doesn't mention that some of the roles change: when the Godfather dies, the Mafioso (if they're still alive) becomes the Godfather, taking on that role and its abilities, and if the Executioner's target is killed at night (and not lynched, which is the Exe's goal), the Exe becomes a Jester.  It's possible to have two Jesters in a game at one time.

In addition, the Jailor can choose to kill the person they've locked up for questioning, but if the Jailor kills a citizen, they lose the power to kill for the rest of the game.  If the Town Killing (Veteran or Vigilante) kills a citizen, they commit suicide the following day.

Also, every player must have created a will in the event of their death.  They can change this at any time until their death; it usually includes information that they've collected on the other players.  All players with the ability to kill must create a death note that they leave by the bodies of the players they kill.

Sound confusing?  Anyone who plays will get the hang of it pretty quickly.  It's loads of fun, and I'm excited to see how it'll go on the forum.

Okay, looking forward to it.  And I forgot to mentioned a few things:

Players don't know the specific role of Town Killing and Random Town.  For example, players will know that there is a player with the role of Town Killing, but only Town Killing and the narrator will know if the player is a Veteran or Vigilante.  Same with Random Town (Mayor, Spy, or Transporter).

Players do not know who the Executioner's target is (unless Exe wins and declares his win), and if Exe become a Jester, only Exe and the narrator know it.  Be careful not to lynch the Jester; if he's lynched, he wins.  The Jester and the Exe can win along with either the Mafia or Town, but if the Serial Killer wins, that player is the only winner.

The dead can speak to the Medium privately (in PM's) and share information with him/her.  The dead will know who the Medium is but cannot share that information unless the Medium is accused of being the Mafia; they can back the Medium up to prevent his/her death.  They can also lie.  They're not forbidden from posting in the topic, but they are dead, and both their wills and the Medium speak for them.

A day and a night have a time limit.  If a player with a role to fill at night (i.e. Godfather, Escort, Jailor, Serial Killer, etc.) doesn't fulfill their role in the time given, they miss out and have to wait until the following night.  If, during the day, a decision is not made on whom to lynch in the time allotted, no one is lynched that day.

I think that's about it... playing this game will require a lot of back-and-forth communication between the narrator and the players.  I'm really looking forward to it.
