Am I the only one here who doesn't like Marlfox?

Life is too short to rush through it.

Don't like as in don't enjoy reading it, or as in it isn't as good as other books?

I quite like Marlfox; the build up is good, although I think it has a weaker ending than some other books, so it is nowhere near my favourite.
My ears, how are you, wot!

Mariel

I dislike several books, Redwall, Sable Queen, The Rouge Crew, and Lomehedge the most. :-[

Ferrousferret

I can't believe Loamhedge is "winning."

I don't get it- that one's one of my favorites...

But, then again, there's at least one person who doesn't like the original, I also largely dislike Taggerung, which seems to be a fan favorite, & people also don't like Eulalia, which is another of my faves, so... dunno what else there is to that...

Sailears

You know what's funny - in the Weapon thread Long Bow is a forum favourite, yet in here Loamhedge is least liked - strange when it contains "Mr Long Bow" himself, Lonna Bowstripe. ;)

Loamhedge is certainly in my top ten favourites, if not top five.

I'm completely surprised that Sable Quean has zero votes.

Revive!

The Bellmaker, Mattimeo, and Eulalia are my least favorites. But I just voted for Eulalia. Something was wrong with that book! When a short sentence could've been made, they stuck a comma in there and made it a long one! :o (Yeah, I'm a grammar Nazi.) And when Mad Maudie taught those Redwallers to jump rope, and Foremole was jumping around stupidly mis-saying the jump rope rhyme... ugh. Everything seemed to say that Brian Jacques wasn't putting his all into that book. I took a break from it 2/3rds of the way through and read several other Redwall books. When I came back to it, it did get a bit more interesting when Salixa showed up, because then there was a romance. ;D

And The Bellmaker & Mattimeo are kinda slow and not as exciting as some of the others.

Hmmm...Doomwyte wasn't very good. My worst...
They told me I was gullible. I believed them.

It is well known that 47% of statistics are made up on the spot.

I used to leave out half my sentances, but now I

^ A shame you weren't keen on Doomwyte! I liked it, but of course opinions vary. :D

I do vaguely recall that I didn't think there was much to Eulalia! But I still can't confirm which is my least favourite at the moment. :)

Jukka - Can you remember which chapter the stupidly long sentence was in?

I can't, because there were several of those sentences throughout. There were some in Doomwyte, too. I guess I'm just being picky. Eulalia was still kinda interesting, but not quite as good as some others.

i just didn't like the original.

i think it was the 3rd or 4th book i read overall, and it's so very different from the rest of them. no singing! ... plus matthias really wasn't painted in a great light. if i tribe of shrews found me while i was asleep, clothed me, fed me in the morning, and supplied various items of use i'd at least say good morning and ask how the wife was doing.
it was the strangest thing today
i studied footprints in abandoned pathways
'neath forgotten undergrowth something stirring again
you were a single red blood cell and I lost you in this knot of capillaries
but you were bringing me oxygen when I needed it most in the smoke

My Bottom 3 (so far. Haven't read them all yet):

3. Triss

A mix of ideas that would've worked as individual stories. Triss may be the worst Hero in the series, Kurda was a lousy villain, too many starring otters for my taste, and I hated Scarum, who was every stereotype about Hares in one obnoxious package!

Thing is, I really liked the crew of the Seascab, Prince Bladd, and the storyline about the Hydra Siblings (and the shout outs to the past. Always a sucker for those) was pretty cool.

2. Loamhedge

It (along with the other two) is like Jacques took several story ideas, threw them into a blender, hit "puree", and threw the mess into a manuscript. As others have said, I especially hate that Martha just randomly got out of her wheelchair thanks to a deus ex Martina...which means that the questers were imperiled---and Bragoon and Saro died--for nothing! :'(
Not so crazy about the "Lonna vs. searats" plot either and hated Horty.

However, I liked Bragoon & Saro, liked Cosbro (poor old fella) liked Kharnajul (or at least the idea of him) and really liked Baddredd & his gang! :D

1. Doomwhyte

There-there's just WAY too much going on here! Whytes, Painted Ones, and Baliss, oh my! (and that bit with the bees and crazed hedgehog lady was just random)
If there were mysterious lights luring creatures to their doom since the days of Gnoff and Martin, shouldn't we have heard about it waaayyyy before now? Ditto a whole tribe of mouse thieves that had also been around for millennia.
So it's come down to this...a massive pile of retcons x_x  The worst part is that I usually enjoy references and shout outs to previous installment :(

Also, this is the most obnoxious example of the good beasts double standard about dealing with bad guys. Everyone gave Tugga bad stuff for killing Chigga as he pleaded, but slaughtering reptiles and birds (who'd already suffered enough) as their fled for their lives is just fine  >:(

This is the only RW book I didn't meet a character I liked >:(

PS: Balliss was a Asmodeus knock-off (Jacques even went so far as to make him a descendant) who was maimed by his own stupidity.

I really liked all the mish-mash character types that appear in Doomwyte. Gives it a really nice adventure feel.
