A closer look at the particle distributor tell you what's wrong - it's split open, and is leaking small amounts of radiation. The purpose of the distributor is to even out the energy, so it doesn't shoot alternating large and small blasts. The casing simply needs to be repaired. You look back at your toolkit and sort through the tools inside. The hydrospanner will allow you to get a good grasp on the casing, and the high-grade durasteel staples will close it. But, you could also make a new distributor from the materials on the frigate's gun floor. You might even be able to find a brand new distributor somewhere else in the ship.

Unofficially adding my vote AGAIN, making it "Repair the particle distributor."

Ordo holds the casing with the hydrospanner while you ready the stapler. With 7 staples, the casing is closed, and you seal the crack with steel glue. "Great," you say. "Now for the super-amplifier."

The super amplifier looks much more delicate than the particle distributor. It's a circle of metal, held in front of where the beam would shoot through. You see that the supports for the circle are cracked and broken, setting the amplifier off center. Usually you would simply adjust the supports into place, but in this case the supports are actually damaged, not just bent. The repair is pretty simple, however, you just need to jury rig the supports into place with adequate materials so they stay in place. As soon as you start to work on the supports, a blast rocks the ship and you tool kit slides across the floor slightly. The elevator opens to reveal a squad of stormtroopers, who start to fire at the engineers. You're in a good position under the cannon to fire a few shots at the Imperials, but you can't reach your heavy blaster. Ordo sees your predicament and slides his blaster pistol to you.

Squeezing off a few shots, you manage to take down a few troopers, and the rest are dealt with by other Rebels. You turn back to the cannon, sliding the pistol back to Ordo. You quickly finish repairing the supports, and Ordo inserts the replacement crystals. The chief engineer walks over to you as you cover the hole with a panel. "Good work. The gun's ready to fire."

The gunner grins at you as he prepares to fire a shot. "It's all in the location," he says. "Ion cannons are finicky. Hit the wrong place, and it could have no effect."

He steps away from the cannon. "Do the honors," he says.

You can sense the power of the weapon. Ordo looks on, spotting targets as you sit down in the gunner's seat and peer down sights.

"There's a Victory-class frigate hammering on our anti-fighter support," he says. "But that Star Destroyer is flanking the cruiser. I'd go for the Interdictor, though. It's jamming our missiles."

Interdictors are the smallest and hardest to hit, but they're also arguably the most important ship in the fleet. With their gravity well activated, the Rebels aren't going anywhere.

The half ton chunk of metal shifts in your whim. A satisfying Thum sends the blast of ion energy towards the Interdictor, wiping out its shields, leaving it open to Rebel turbolaser fire. With the Interdictir taken out of action, you let the gunner refund to his job. "Great," says Ordo. "Now what?"

When you step off the elevator onto the main deck, you understand what happened with the stormtroopers. An Imperial boarding party had broken through, and the stragglers had made it to the gun deck. White armored bodies litter the floor. Unlike the previous instance, you now have the opportunity to take some Imperial gear. You check the body of the lead trooper, one with a pauldron.

You got a DH-17 blaster pistol. (deals 9 damage)
You got 2 Imperial Code Cylinders. One-time use to unlock doors or supply crates.
You got the Officer's Message.

You stick all the stuff in your pack and continue on. The bridge is relatively untouched - only one stormtrooper made it through, barely. You and Ordo salute the captain as he turns to see you. "Good job on the gun deck," he says. "But there's a new battlefield. This entire battle began when the Imperials attacked our station in orbit - we hyperspaced in to fend them off from the planet surface. Turns out, though, they landed some troops and armor in the midst of the battle. You need to go down there and help our men fend them off. There's a transport in the main hangar, take it. There should be vehicles in there for your needs."

Hangar time.

[Hickory]

One Gallofree GR-75 transport is docked in the main hangar. You see the bottom of an orange and white tank lifted into the transport before the cargo door closes. Ordo nudges you in the back. "Get in one of the passenger pods," he says, beckoning to the pod with seats in it. Each pods contains two squads of troops, and you and Ordo fill the last two spots in your pod. The door hisses shut with the sound of atmospheric sealing. The floor shakes as the transport lifts off out of the hangar.

Intermission.

You are now Red Three. Your X-Wing whizzes through the space battle with ease, destroying enemy fighters and generally helping out the capital ships. A TIE interceptor nearly clips your starfighter as it tears by.

Attack the fighter.
Fly away and investigate the rest of the battlefield.

Your armament

4 Taim and Bak laser cannons. Fire modes: Alternating fire (fires in pairs), straight fire (fires one after the other), and combined fire (all four at once).
3 Proton torpedoes. Powerful weapons that can disable and kill a TIE fighter, and deliver crippling blows to capital ships.

Special abilities

Lock S-foils. Closes the wings, increases speed, but lowers accuracy on the lasers.
Repair. The R2 unit in the back fixes your starfighter.
Support. One time use, calls in the rest of the squadron to help you out.
