How dare you steal my idea, which I stole from Andrew Hussie!

Red Three: Defect to the Empire.

Red Three: Fly away and investigate the rest of the battlefield, all the while trying to find a way to defect to the Empire.

Hickory

You'll play as the Empire in good time, don't worry.

NARDOLE; You are completely out of your mind!
DOCTOR: How is that news to anyone?

"I am Yomin Carr, the harbinger of doom. I am the beginning of the end of your people!" -Yomin Carr

"Red Three, engaging TIE fighter!"

You activate your targeting computer and the display turns red as the targeting reticle locks on to the fighter. The ship veers about, trying to avoid your fire as you press on the trigger. Streaks of red light fly around the fighter, until one after the other turns it into a blazing fireball. You zoom off elsewhere.

"Alert, alert, enemy ship hyperspacing in at 3 o'clock!" cries Red Leader over the radio. A new ship appears on scanners - the Victory-class Star Destroyer's turbo laser batteries open fire on a Cornelian Corvette, destroyed the relatively puny vessel in a few salvos. "All fighters, engage!" orders Red Leader.

Attack the Star Destroyer's shield generator.
Attack the Star Destroyer's engines.
Attack the Star Destroyer's central axis turbolaser batteries.

Your armament

4 Taim and Bak laser cannons. Fire modes: Alternating fire (fires in pairs), straight fire (fires one after the other), and combined fire (all four at once).
3 Proton torpedoes. Powerful weapons that can disable and kill a TIE fighter, and deliver crippling blows to capital ships.

Special abilities
Lock S-foils. Closes the wings, increases speed, but lowers accuracy on the lasers.
Repair. The R2 unit in the back fixes your starfighter.
Support. One time use, calls in the rest of the squadron to help you out.

The command tower rears ahead of you as the shield generators come into sight. You fire all cannons... only to find that they have little to no effect. You need a different strategy.

Crash into the shield generators.
Use your torpedoes.

Torpedoes. Ramming the shield generators is a great way to end the story, though.

The torpedoes clank into their firing tubes as you line up the shot. Green blasts of energy fire past you as the twin red streaks fire from underneath your fighter and devastate the generators, destroying them. The nearby Rebel capital ships make short work of the unshielded frigate. Other targets make themselves shown, though.

Target the TIE Interceptor squadron.
Target the Broadside missile cruiser.
Protect the Assault Frigate from enemy bombers.
Protect the GR-75 transport headed for the surface.

The starfighter obeys your slightest touch, diving towards the transport. Your versatile vehicle flies circles around the ship, waiting for action. Suddenly, a strange looking TIE fighter comes onto scanners. It has curved wings like a bomber, but only a single pod. For some reason, you start to lose confidence.

What should you do?

TIE Advanced?

Only one of those that I know of, off the top of my head.

Fire a torpedo at the fighter, and call in support to engage it. Hopefully this will buy time for the transport.

"Red Three to Red Leader. Sir, I need reinforcements. RZ at point three, two, five. Unknown TIE model. Engaging now."

You try to keep the enemy fighter within locking range. Your last torpedo flies away and impacts the fighter, but causes little damage. It flies up in a loop and you lose sight of it... and your starfighter beeps, telling you someone has a lock on your fighter.

"We got you," says one of your squad. You glance out of the side window to see the fighter spiraling away, controlled but damaged. The transport continues towards the planet. "Fighter squadron, form up around the transport. I just got orders from the Captain that it contains high priority cargo that NEEDS to reach the planet surface."

The other fighters get in line around the transport. The fighter shakes a little. "We're entering the atmosphere!" reports Red Four. Clouds start to break your line of sight. "Sensors clean..." says Red Two nervously.

"Red Squadron, be on the watch for incoming enemy fighters," says the Captain's voice. "Several of their fighters have broken off from the main group, and are heading for your posi-"

The wreckage of Red Three's destroyed X-wing plummets towards the planet surface, as the mysterious TIE continues into the clouds.

End of intermission.

The transport rattles a little as you land on the planet surface. "Get off!" yells the Rebel soldier by the transport door. You step off onto the ground. The T2-B hovertanks drop down from the body of the transport. "Incoming stormtroopers!" says Ordo. The white armored enemies emerge from the foliage, shooting their blasters at you. "Get in the tanks!" orders the Rebel commander. You run to one of the tanks and drop in the top hatch.

The T2-B tank is a repulsorlift tank armed with quad laser cannons and equipped with deflector shields. While less effective against heavy Imperial tanks, it easily neutralizes stormtroopers and can move around quickly.

The tank crew makes room for you as you sit in the gunner's seat. Peering at the screen, the stormtroopers are highlighted with red outlines. They are cut down by the tank's firepower quickly, and you move forward with the other tanks following.

Continue towards the sensor array.
Search the surroundings for additional enemy defenses.
