Those dreams sound awesome, wish I could have one like that.
I had one before. I was very young. In fact, I know how to lucid dream. When I was very very young, I had a special suit, that was very powerful and could fly. I made it myself.
I have them sometimes.
thats cool! ive never had any myself, working on it though! what are they about? i want one where im at a redwall feast!
@redwallfan7, you can search how to have lucid dreams. try to remmber your dreams, thats commonly said.
@everyone, excuse horrible grammer, using an onscreen keyboard
I've had lucid dreams, though I haven't had any for quite some time, not since starting college (probably because I'm too tired and had stopped writing in my dream journal after crashing the car resulted in nightmares. I really should start again).
My tips:
- Get lots of sleep, at least 8 hrs per night. I only remember my dreams and lucid dream when I'm well rested.
- Keep a dream journal. This helps me more than anything. When you wake up every day, just write about what you dreamed about - it can be as vague as "something about school" or it can be a detailed, pages-long description (though I've had only a couple dreams THAT long and detailed)... just whatever you remember from it. When I keep up with mine, I tend to remember my dreams a lot better, and, better yet, I start to notice little details while I'm dreaming, which is important for my next tip.
- When you're dreaming, if you notice anything odd, think about it for a moment and that might make you realize you're dreaming. I read a book, for example, that suggested checking that shadows are on the correct side of things based on the light. I remember once noticing that movie tickets were priced way higher than they are in real life, and one time I thought "wait... of course I didn't miss that assignment, we already turned in that book for that class".
- You might want to check out some books about lucid dreaming. I think the most helpful to me was "The World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge and Howard Rheingold.

I might just do that! Lucid dreaming sounds pretty interesting.
I don't really dream anymore. I have to work nights and sleep in the daytime, so my sleep is never quite right. I'm essentially always tired.
I've had a couple of dreams where I can get myself to wake up. ;D
Here's an interesting fact: when I talk about something I love or have an Interest in, (especially when I tell other people what I'm interested in) I dream about it later. For example, yesterday I watched Mulan, so I had a dream about the movie Mulan they night.
True, I watched lord of the rings when I was like 10 and dreamed nazgûl came to my house and killed me
:(
Topic please, lucid dreams, not dreams in general.
I had a lucid dream last night. I made myself fly from one side of the room to the other. In fact my dreams have always been very intensive so I know how to lucid dream.
Sometimes when I do something fun in a dream, I think, 'Let's do that again', and I do it. Does that count?
I don't think so, but I'm anything but an expert on lucid dreaming, but I've read that you need to be aware that your dreaming.

I had a dream last night where I was aware that I was dreaming, but I couldn't control what I was doing. But I could hear my fan that's in my room in the background.

Tiria if you want to lucid dream, think of it this way. Something in a dream is weird. Correct? You don't realize it's weird until you wake up, right? So focus hard on what's weird in your dream and you'll realize that it isn't possible and that is a dream. It's how I do it.
Right now I have an A on the back of my hand, I might get so used to seeing it there that something will tick if I don't see it in my dream and realize that I'm dreaming. That or it got rinsed off :D
There was one thing that I know is weird but when I dreamed it I didn't even notice it. I looked at a clock in a dream and it said 3 something AM, then when I looked again it said 1 something AM.
I was able to have a lucid dream last night! I was at a theme park with my brother and sister, and I ordered what I wanted off of a concession menu. I also told them I wanted to go on a tilt a whirl ride, but I woke up before we could go on.
Did you realize you were in the dream?

Interesting.
i have never had one. not sure i want to. suppose i get a million dollars, then i wake up and i dont have that million dollars. then i'm sad because i dont have a million dollars.
Well that's tge downside of dreams. But I love to dream with another person. I've had lucid dreams I can't put up on here. Sorry.
I had a lucid dream last night! First one in about two years. I'd been dreaming that it was final exams day, but that I'd only been to this psychology class like twice and hadn't read the book or anything. The bulk of the dream was spent trying to read the book really fast and eventually I just gave up and went to school. Then I realized - it's the middle of August, so what the heck class am I taking that would have exams now; the other book I saw on my list of textbooks to turn in, was for a class I've already taken, which didn't have a textbook; and that I have never, in fact, taken a psychology class. So I realized I must be dreaming, and decided that I wanted to dream about Skyrim. So I actually changed it to a Skyrim dream (like, one where I was *in* the world and not just playing the game). I started exploring but got woken up before being able to do too much, but anyway, that's the first lucid dream I've ever had where I actually changed the entire dream - most of the time it's just being able to change the current dream (like giving myself superpowers) or rewinding a dream (if I don't like how something turned out, I'll start it over at a certain point and try again). So I was pretty pleased with that.
Impressive Dawnwing! Changing a scene in a dream is very difficult to do. But you know, the scene changes really fast because your mind functions more quickly in dreams. That's why the place you changed it too came around so fast. That's really good Dawn. In my lucid dreams I actually force myself to see this person. Very pleasant dreaming.
Whoa, you can change the scene? I wish I could do that in my dreams
Yeah, it was a very weird experience, changing the scene. I actually got it changed on my second try - the first time, I tried picturing what I wanted, but nothing happened. So I tried again, concentrating extra hard. And yeah, just like you said, MatthiasMan, it changed really fast.
I just checked out that book again that I mentioned on the first page. It's been maybe three years since I read it, so now that I had a lucid dream again after so long, maybe if I read that again, I'll remember some tips and have them more often.
EDIT: wrong name
Hmf. How funny. I just remembered, if I had a dream last night I don't remember it. Most likely lucid because whenever I read this topic it helps me have a lucid dream.
I've had them a few times. Most notably I was running from the police, although I still don't know why.

Lol have you done something bad?
I'd say my dream, but it's not really a lucid dream, and it's kind of awkward to mention.
You can PM me the dream. If you don't want to tell it's fine. I share most of my dreams with Tannsrall. Plus Redwaller, you always PM without reason. :P
I'm not sure it was a lucid dream, but I think it was a step towards it! I had a dream where I was at my friend's house, then all of a sudden I was in another dream! After a few minutes of that dream, I went back to my friend's house in the first dream. I knew something was wrong with my dream; something was weird.
OK you knew you were in the dream? That counts Rain. In lucid dreams you don't have to change anything to make it lucid. So you count as a kucid dreamer then.
YES! Woohoo! Thanks for clarifying that lol. And yes, I knew I was in a dream, but not at that moment. It came later on in the dream when the clock read 3 something, then it said 1 something.
. . .Ok. Anyways, I've haven't been remembering my dreams for a while. I miss dreams. It's so facinating.
I'm a lucid dreamer, I think. Most of the time I'm aware that I'm dreaming.
Darn it! I didn't have a dream! Why can't I dream anymore!!?
Yeah, I went through long periods without remembering my dreams. Maybe it's because you're sleeping too deeply. I know, that's supposed to be healthy for you. But you usually forget your dreams in deeper sleep.
No I don't to sleep deeply! I'd rather dream and have terrible sleep! Dreams are to awesome to go without!
yeahh
I think it's time for a revive! So, this morning, I somehow managed to fall asleep for a few minutes, and I had a lucid dream! I was standing in my shower, half awake, when I suddenly realized, "Wait, I'm not in the shower. I'm in my bed, shivering!"
So, after I finished with that thought, I decided to have some fun before I woke up. I tried to make myself fly out of the shower. Unfortunately, I didn't start flying, but my upper body stretched until I was at least 7 or 8 feet tall! Then, sadly, I woke up.
I haven't had ANY dreams for months!

Wait, can you
make yourself lucid dream? Because the one I had was an amazing experience, and I'd love to do it again!
Ya. Its not that hard. Its actually pretty simple. Just realize you are in the dream. I haven't had a dream in a while that I can remember.
Ah, that's probably my problem. Every time I dream, it feels so real! Like, I'll have a dream that my arm is being crushed, and I'll wake up to me laying on my arm. One time I had a dream that I was shot and woke up with a pain in my chest.
Sorry for the double post, but I just gotta say, I had another lucid dream last night!!! I was in a hotel room or something with my brother, and I immediately realized I was dreaming. How? When I fell asleep, my fan and some music were on. I couldn't hear them in the dream, so I knew I was dreaming. Anyway, I once again decided to have some fun in my dream. I tried to turn myself into a dragon. It worked, but my brother also transformed into a dragon and somehow we got stuck together. Sorta like a dragon with two heads.
So, after that, we broke through a window and flew out into the open sky. There were strange, giant fish floating through the sky, and they were trying to eat us. We barely managed to dodge them, but somehow we stayed in the air, unharmed (other than my pounding heart, which probably missed a few beats). We crashed into someone's house, which turned out to be our archenemy's house. She had children, who luckily didn't see us. We tried to hide, but got killed.
Next, we woke up in the hotel room again, still the two-headed dragon. We flew out the window and found a white beacon of light, where the house was. We went to the house again, going inside the hole we had made the first time. As we flew inside, we found all of our nonexistent belongings that we had dropped (like in Minecraft, when you die and drop your belongings), and then I woke up. :(
Hopefully, I'll be able to have another tonight!
...you have strange dreams.
I know! My mind is very strange, and the rest of me follows. Lol.

Hm. I'll tell you I've never seen that kind of lucid dream!? Why did you make yourself crash into a wall!? Are you crazy!?! It's just like," Hey world, watch me crash into that wall over there and get killed by my archenemy!" Lol. ;)
I'm not quite sure why I crashed into a wall, but I wasn't completely in control of myself. Lol, after all, I was attached to my brother!
Just wow. Hahah. Rainy, you have got one funny dream. That's really funny. The more I read it the more I laugh.
Hahaahahaha
Guess what? I had a lucid dream last night! I realized I was dreaming, so I thought 'Okay, I want to have wings.' And then I had wings, and I could fly, and it was really awesome! ;D
Lol, that's much better than the ones I've had.
I have lucid dreams a lot, but I can't control them. Most of them end up with me getting mortally wounded, being aware that I'm dreaming and mortally wounded, and not waking up or dying in the dream. It's frustrating.
For once, could I have a good lucid dream in Redwall or something?

Does that happen a lot in lucid dreams, the wait-I'm-dreaming-wake-up-something-kills-you-or-scares-you-so-much-that-you-"wake-up"-it-happens-again? And you keep thinking you're awake over and over but you're not? Than I
have had one lucid dream in my life, and IT. WAS. HELL. Six months later, I get so scared I feel chilled all over and get tears in my eyes and can't move for a few seconds whenever it even crosses my mind.
I honestly don't know, 'cause I've only ever had two. But from what I can tell, you realize that you're dreaming and you can control your own dream. The two I had were a bit weird, 'cause I could half control myself. I knew I was dreaming and I knew I could move around, but my body seemed to have a mind of its own. It was strange.
Do you mind telling about your dream? If not, totally fine, I've had terrible dreams like that before. I actually had a nightmare when I was five that I can still remember, it scared me so much. Still gives me chills.
So I was sitting in a restaurant. All was fine. Then it felt like everything started over somehow, but there was creepy music (which didn't actually sound creepy at all there was just something creepy about it) and I felt like there was... something behind me but either I couldn't turn around and see it or it was invisible but its presence could be felt. Then, I "woke up", or got out of bed for the day but it was super dark outside my room. And my mom was grilling something in our bonus room, and then I was like "I'm dreaming" so I "woke up", but then I was running up the stairs at a weird speed that seemed both fast and slow, even though there was something at the top. And I remember I was praying out loud but nothing changed. And then... whatever it was at the top of the stairs... leaped at me and I "woke up". I went down the hall and my dad was there, except there were several of him and he was about twenty feet tall and super skinny. Then I "woke up" again, and this time I thought it was real because the light and the time was right. But my hands felt super weak and fumbled on the doorknob. I was scared that I was dreaming again. But eventually I got the door open. I tried to run down the hall, but I slowed down and the hall stretched out. I yelled "For Clan Buchanan*!" even though my mouth also barely worked and I still didn't go anywhere. Then I finally really woke up with a jolt. My throat was dry from praying almost throughout my entire horrendous dream. I was so happy I was alive I felt like Mr. Scrooge at the end of The Christmas Carol. Now was that a lucid dream? Oh, and afterwards I realized I had been sleeping with my eyes open.

I'm not sure if that would be considered lucid or not, 'cause if I'm correct, you have control over your dream, so you could make your dads disappear or something like that. But I'm no expert on the subject, so your best bet would be to ask someone else. ::) But yeah, that's freaky! Probably freakier than my 5 year old dream (although mine was rather gory for being 5).
Sorry to tell you that late at night :P
That's rather eerie.
I repeatedly have dreams of climbing tall ladders and falling, bears and syringes and floating lights, as well as the one with the alligators, the floating docks in the middle of lakes and boats with no engines that go fast and you control by leaning and also have no bottom.
My dreams are weird sometimes. Generally not horrifying, though there have been exceptions.
I've had dreams about alligators, but they are just scary when I'm actually dreaming. Not after I wake up
Yeah. Moreso panic when in-dream, rather than continued horror.
Yeah, only dreams that happened in real places continue to scare me.
I forgot about this when I woke up! I actually had a lucid dream (sort of) in the middle of the night.
So... I saw things that said one of the strange things in dreams is you can look at your hand and see how many fingers you have and it's not always the same in dreams. So I looked down at my hand and saw that I had more fingers and my hand was blurry so I realized I was dreaming. Then the scenery changed, and I went over to a table and tried to make stuff appear and disappear, which didn't work. Then I was like, I'm having a lucid dream! And I woke up, and the clock said 4 am, so I fell back asleep. Was I having a lucid dream or was I just dreaming I was lucid dreaming? Because I didn't feel like I had a ton of control over the situation, and I'm not sure exactly how much I really realized I was dreaming. Maybe I was just dreaming that I knew I was dreaming, without really being aware of it, and I just had that dream since I had read so much about lucid dreams the day before
OOC: So... I noticed that people can intentionally lucid dream inappropriate things... :-X. I would never do that :-X :-X :-X
Are lucid dreams stereotyped as being dirty? Or do most people just think of flying?
I dunno... I mean, one of my biggest fantasies is being able to fly, so both of my lucid dreams were me trying to fly. I didn't ever think of any sort of nasty, inappropriate thing.
I've dreamt about flying before. Really cool dream. Ooh, maybe I could combine the dream about falling and the dream about flying, so I could not die! That'd be great!
@Romsca- Yeah, I mean honestly, that really doesn't surprise me all that much. Some people are just... Yeah.
...Though I don't think lucid dreaming has that kind of connotation. But then, I very well might not know if it did.
Ok, I hope it doesn't. I just thought it might since a lot of the nicer/better/more conservative people haven't posted on this topic; maybe they just aren't interested. Anyway, does what I described sound like a lucid dream? I'm trying to decide if it was

Was this an actual lucid dream?
I also used to have them constantly as a kid, but they generally stopped when I was about 13. Around that time I became severely depressed, was tired of not even having any peace when I was asleep & began trying to train myself to not dream at all. Used to have pretty much every night, but I can't do it on command anymore. I think I know roughly what was causing it, though, was:
-I used to be so energetic that it would take me 1-2 hours to actually fall asleep
-I used to live in the country & my room would get so dark at night that I wouldn't be able to see my own hand in front of my face, which caused my imagination to fire up prematurely
I now tend to fall asleep in half an hour & live in an apartment in the city. The only place that gets that dark is the bathroom in the dead of night, which would be kind of awkward. Plus, I'd be freaked out because I wouldn't be able to stop wondering what my downstairs neighbors thought I was doing (OCD) & it's a bit too cramped to sleep in there, lol.
I have had a couple in recent memory, though. The three I remember were:
A) Some sort of Zombie apocalypse started when me & my family were visiting the graveyard. It was extremely vivid & everything that I thought or worried about actually happened (sometimes to my distress)
B) I went to some sort of primeval mountain lake somewhere.
C) I think I was in Hawaii, or something, an this old woman who either had a lot of kids, or ran a day care, kept trying to get me to realize I was in a dream & could do whatever I want, although I woke up shortly after I got the message.
The ones I had as a kid were better, though. I always knew I was dreaming & no matter how disturbing or terrifying they were, I never really got scared because I knew that whatever I felt that I needed to survive the situation would happen.

C) I think I was in Hawaii, or something, an this old woman who either had a lot of kids, or ran a day care, kept trying to get me to realize I was in a dream & could do whatever I want, although I woke up shortly after I got the message.
lol!
Okay. I think I'm crazy, because I lucid dream every night. So, am I crazy, or just really skilled in tapping into that thingamajiggy?

Oh, you're crazy. Heh, news flash.
*Smacks Rus on the head* I was being serious, beetle brain.
What's your secret?? I need help! I've been trying to start lucid dreaming while dreaming, but it's not working. And I wake up, write my dream down, and realized there's a RIDICULOUS amount of dream signs (things that could never, I mean never happen in real life), and sometimes I'll think "maybe I'm dreaming" but I don't really do anything about it because in my dreams I don't care, but it's unbelievably frustrating when I wake up! I've only had one lucid dream, it was 5-10 seconds long, and it was the first time I tried. Now I've been trying ever since... for almost a week... sigh...
I don't have time to do that think-for-twenty-minutes-on-lucid-dreaming or wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-think-about-lucid-dreaming-for-an-hour stuff. Although I do think I might be getting closer to lucidity anyway. Maybe.
I would really like to Lucid dream. I personally have a tendency to remember my dreams and most of them are totally bazaar or completely impossible how am I supposed to notice that something is off if everything is off and I don't notice???
IKR?

I honestly have no idea. It just happens.....This is kinda creepy.
It is? :o
Time to revive this topic because this topic is one of my favorites,
and I also had a lucid dream last night. I just turned into a mouse. The end.
Just turned into a mouse, cuddled myself in a ball and boom the end. Not very exciting, but it was pretty thrilling being a mouse.
