Title: The strange movements of the guests
Post by: The Skarzs on September 11, 2014, 08:06:25 PM
Five guests are printing the Introduction Topic at this moment.
Two days ago, two were viewing Wot Wot's profile.
There is always at least one guest viewing 'Something very bad happened to me the other day' or 'The Master of the Pitiless Mists, OOC discussion and sign up'.

What other strange happenings do you notice from the guests?

The guests have been terrorizing my kingdom lately... I've sent patrols to hunt them, but we cannot kill them all.

I know! I was thinking over my posts and wondering if I'd asked people to view my profile.

Have you noticed tons of Guests start to register for an account, but then it's like they never do? I see it all the time, on Who's Online. It'll say

Guest:                   Registering for an account.

So I watch, so I csan welcome them. But no new member ever pops up.

I think a lot of people get turned off by the fact it requires your email.
Title: Re: The strange movements of the guests
Post by: Rusvul on September 11, 2014, 11:30:22 PM
If they do anything on the internet, then that usually wouldn't be the case... 99% of forums or social media require your email, these forums are a lot safer and such than, say, Facebook. Less information collected, no experiments without asking you, et cetera...

Maybe some people like Redwall or something, but don't actually care enough to join the forums.

Although if guests are always viewing certain topics (Yes, apparently, they are) then they're bots. Nobody would leave their computer powered on and viewing the same page, refreshing every fifteen minutes, for weeks on end.

Some of the 'guests' might be Google things that crawl the forum.

A terrible laugh echoed off the walls of castle google, striking fear into the surrounding area. The google lord was out to conquer the Internet, and none of the rabble were going to stop him. With a flick of his hand, he crushed commander Bing. With a swipe of his sword, he beheaded president Yahoo. The Internet bowed in surrender, and Google reigned over all.

Until the Fledgling state of Emor started a revolution, gatering up all of the free peoples of Wi-Fi, to it's banner, it started with taking over Italy, though Google tried it's best to uproot it,  it was to no avail. Once it had shown it's supremacy over Italy, it spread into the surrounding world. Defeating Google with it's mighty Legions. It suffered a minor set back against King Pyrrhus of Google, but it was at such a great cost that he could not use the victory in any way.

We should monitor guests and collect data. We need to find out which areas have the highest guest density, which guests are in hibernation, and which topics tend to repel guests. We also need to conduct a report to see how climate change will affect guest population.. Let's get to it!!!

When I'm working on a page on Han's roleplay wiki, I usually stay signed out and then view the printable version of the OOC thread for the RP page I'm doing. Although I haven't done that for over a week.

Another possible explanation for why guests are always viewing the printable version of a thread is that they were just searching for something on Google, the printable page came up as a result, they viewed it briefly, and even after they went back to Google their status still said they were viewing it. Just a thought.

Post by: Izeroth on September 13, 2014, 03:52:40 AM
It is very wired how many guests are on "the master of the mists". I have to conclude that the thread must have a special climate that allows them to thrive there. More research to follow..... Also, I have classified two subspecies of guest

Hospitor Hibernatus- This creature is often found in dead threads. It will visit the thread and then apparently stay at it for the end of time...

Hospitor Active- This subspecies is commonly found in new threads, and migrates seemingly at random intervals. It sometimes elevates itself to member status, but usually simply lurks in the dark forever

I've spotted a few in Secret Forum Crush.

As for science, we should all look back into our pre-Homo Memberius (Correct term?) days.

I was a humble fan-boy, searching up Redwall, well, everything. Then I found this website, passed it off as boring compared to searching up redwall fandoms and video games, and left it. I later came back, saw how weird, twisted, and insane all it's members were, to which I joined the forum. I currently thrive in the odd, weird habitat of the Homo Memberi.

So, are we the weird and creepy ones, or the guests?  :o

Good name.
I was actually only looking at the Fan Works (fictions and art) exclusively when I lurked this forum as a guest, none of the other boards, really. Well, I did take a look at some of the topics about the series and yadda yadda yadda, but none of what happened in the 'General Board'.

Ahem, I have discovered a new subspecies of Homo Memberius. It's name is Homo Modisaur. These odd beings have 6 or 7 blue stars around them, are able to post in locked topics, lock topics, post in the Anouncments, take away the speech abilities of Homo Memberi, and banish Homo Memberi to the dreaded Guest Abyss. They are shrouded in mystery and evidence points to them being malevolent. It is possible they are demigods of a race shrouded in speculation: Homo Internetis, God of the Internet, along with his 3-4 godly helpers, including and possibly not limited too: Homo Googlius, Homo Bingus, and Homo Yahooi.

Also, Is it possible that the guests are not human-related? Instead of the Homo genus, are they a separate Guestus genus? And as speculated before on this topic, are the Internet Gods (New Genus, or homo?) sending out Fanatic Spy Guest Bots? (Guestus/Homo Botius?)

I require more research. Prof. Blaggut, signing out.

*Cough* Yhis may be my last *wheeze* update to the study. The mod's *wheeze* brainwashing is getting to me. *drinks bottle of water in 3 gulps*

The mods are definitely evil. It is likely that Homo Internetus is sending spies. This is bigger then us, bigger then the guests *wheeze* *more water* to save the forum, you must eradicate the mods. Perhaps reading the holy texts of Homo Internetus will help. (Aka: Google/Bing/Yahoo Terms Of Service) you must observe other forums, some of which allow guests to post. This may be my post to the study. *wheeze*

Usually a member or mod having two or more tabs open and using them. ;) It's something I do a lot.

29 Guests, 6 Users. Freaky.

I wish I could turn the guests to my way of thinking. They would make great shock troops.

That is so weird. Not a day goes by that that doesn't get at least ten views.

Where do they even find it? It's buried deep in the OOCs...

I'd say all of the guests that view it are bots, but it is rather odd how often they view it. Or maybe they are real people, and the thread is linked to on an extremely high-traffic site. Just a thought.

Finally a guest is viewing my RP!!!

EDIT: I tried to find the Master of the Pitiless Mists without just searching for it and I couldn't do it. I had to search for it and then look at the date of the last post TWICE before I found it.
