"It took you long enough." Ushen chuckled, taking another drink. "Make yourself useful, and go get me something alcoholic will ya?" Ushen held out the empty flask to Bryant without turning around, "Oh, and what do you think so far?" He gestured at the walls.

"I had some things to do. It looks great." Bryant said, then took another, really good, look at the walls. "Wow....It's really great!" He enthused.

rachel25

"Did those things have to do with Vatra. And the reason she's in the infirmary." Ushen asked, one eyebrow raised, "I'm not stupid, where did you go? Oh, and thanks, I am rather chuffed with it."

Cornflower MM

"Umm...Maybe I should talk to her before I tell you..." Bryant hedged, then went on, "I can see why. They're amazing! Well, I'll go get your alcoholic drink."

rachel25

"Fine, think fast!" Ushen said, suddenly throwing the flask at Bryant, really hard.

Cornflower MM

Bryant reached out and snagged it. "Haha!" He crowed, pleased with himsdelf. Even though his paw stung.

"Go do your victory lap to the kitchen!" Ushen rolled his eyes, and turned back to the wall. "Now, where's my charcoal stick?" He mused, now rummaging through his art stuff.

Cornflower MM

Bryant grinned, and left. He returned about ten minutes later, the flask ful;l.

rachel25

"Pass it over." Ushen said, holding out his paw, a charcoal stick in the other.

Cornflower MM

Bryant passed it, then asked, "So, what can I do?"

Vatra let a small smile spreed across her face. Ervoyce had seemed normal when they had first met. Straightforward smart and clear headed, the exact opposite of Vatra but as time went on she had realized that he was anything but normal.  He made her more human and she realized that she did the same for him. She didn't know what she had been thinking not telling the others about her plan, especially now that it had failed.

She soon became aware of the the room and the bed and the intense pain in her shoulder and back. Her smile faded and she whispered "I'm sorry I ruined it... I failed." She had let them down and worst of all she had ruined there advantage just because she thought she could do this alone. She wanted to cry, she was a fool, a glory hungry fool with the temper of a full grown male badger. Impulsive, and stubborn... and a complete mess. Why did she have to go off like this? "Ervoyce, can you make sure I am never alone, I need to be watched at all times so I don't run off like that again, I can't be the cause of the loss of the abbey," She said earnestly.
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

Ervoyce let go of Vatra's shoulder to hold her paw tenderly. He stayed silent as Vatra spoke, gazing directly into her eyes. When she finished, he spoke, "Vatra, you're never alone... Even if my physical body is, for whatever reason, not capable of being with you, know that my heart will always follow. It doesn't matter what you do, where you go, what you say, I will always be nearby whether you want me there or not." He thought for a moment before finishing, "But as for what you're asking, yes, I will remain through thick and thin, always watching, always protecting, always caring.... You can bet your life on that. I've failed many times, but through failure comes wisdom and knowledge. You may have failed in theory, but true failure only comes when you give up... And knowing you, I severely doubt that you're ready to give up."

Vatra heard what he said but at the same time she didn't. It hurt every time she moved even breathing hurt. She squeezed his paw and gritted her teeth. "It hurts," She whimpered quietly, "pleas get it out," She glanced down at her shoulder and saw the blood staining her tunic. She felt sick and dizzy as if she had never been injured before. As if she had not been in this place hundreds times but this time it was different. She actually felt the pain and she couldn't block it out no mater how hard she tried. She felt it all.

Ervoyce stood up and summoned the nearby nurse. He held Vatra still while the nurse dug out the head of the arrow. The black squirrel spoke to his counter part, trying to distract her from the pain, "Look into my eyes Vatra, tell me... What do you see?" His eyes were like deep pools of water, strangely broken by an off-white gash crossing both of them. His unusual eyes generally managed to calm down stressed beasts... Or instill fear into those he fought. He worried slightly, there had been a rare few who actually dug into his past by looking past the irises. They weren't called windows to the soul for nothing!

The arrow had dug it self in deep and the barbed edge tore at the wound as it was being removed. Vatra let out a cry of pain and tears ran down her face.

"Look into my eyes Vatra, tell me... What do you see?" She heard him say. She looked up and stared into his eyes. Then she said hardly over a whisper " two moons reflected on the water each with a scar threw them," She looked deeper and said " a life a crimson life a golden life," and then she puled her gaze away and looked at the far wall. She had seen Ervoyce but it was not the one she knew.
