This is a game similar to the ones SilentSam hosted on the old forum. You chose one nation out of the available 6. (This is very basic WWII style.) Your option include:
-USA
-UK
-France
These nations will form one side of the war, so you have automatic allies. You can break off your support for any automatic ally once you take control of your nation, of course.

-Germany
-Italy
-Japan
These nations will form one side of the war, so you have automatic allies. You can break off your support for any automatic ally once you take control of your nation, of course.

-USSR
A wild card, basically. The USSR comes with an automatic ally of both Germany and the US, but you'll have to chose just one to side with upon taking control.

Have fun, and rule the world.

Map:

Note: Troop movements and such should be dictated by a random number generator, with the number between 1 and 10 as the days it takes to reach your destination. I'll decide using the number generator of who will win a specific battle. 50-50 odds unless it's a joint attack, in which case the odds would favor the stronger force.

I'm just going to revive this and claim Germany. Soren are you up for continuing this?

I was just going to claim Germany but it's probably for the best. I'll go with my birthland and choose the UK.

For the sake of keeping the thread alive until Soren can see it, and because WWII is really fun to discuss.

So what ya'll think of Hitler being able to defeat Great Britain if he hadn't made so many foolish tactical mistakes and listened to his commanders. First off the disaster/miracle at Dunkirk Hitler actually ordered his forces not to take the initiative and destroy the combined armies of the British and French. Almost half a million soldiers were trapped there and if the German army had attacked at full speed instead of waiting around they could have eliminated a huge portion of the Royal and Republic armies. Even with the German army moving slowly into the attack the Luftwaffe and the German navy still caused massive casualties.

Second is the Battle of Britain. The last stand of the British air force was beyond admirable, but seriously Churchill was holding that country together by a thread. The constant bombing of London was driving many British people to begging for peace, and the Luftwaffe seriously outnumbered the RAF. The German subs were sinking a large portion of the much needed supplies, and thanks to America's "Leave me alone," policy they weren't about to help out. I think it was thanks to Radar, and the Spitfire that the Brits were never conquered. I think if Germany had been able to utilized their resources and discovered what was warning Great Britain about their approach, instead of relying solely on the power of the Luftwaffe they would have discovered the radar, and potentially destroyed it.

A big task yes, but a costly one to Great Britain.

Finally the preparations for Operation Barbarossa. Everyone who studies WWII knows that Germany's advance into the East was a massive turning point in the war. Op Barbarossa required some four million men, and over six hundred thousand tanks, aircraft, and motor vehicles making it larger then the Allied Invasion of France. Imagine if that tidal wave of resources had been taken from the eastern borders of Poland and thrown at the British.

The poor Spitfires can only shoot down so many Luftwaffe planes. I don't think Great Britain had enough bullets to deal with that kind of attack. Russia wouldn't have counter-invaded Germany, they had no reason too. In fact Soviet Russia was a potential ally for Germany. If great Britain had fallen to Germany the USA would have absolutely no chance of preforming an invasion of France or Britain. They just didn't possess the forces capable.

It is also arguable that the USA would never have gone to war with Germany anyway if Hitler hadn't been so stupid as to declare war on the US.

So if Hitler hadn't been so foolish in utilizing his incredible war machine he may have conquered Europe entirely, advancing the Third Reich indefinitely leaving only Russia, the Western powers, and the mangled remains of the British Empire to combat him.

What do ya'll think? Was Great Britain saved by Hitler's idiocy?

Revive!

Sandpaw- Germany

I figured we'll start off with the German invasion of Poland, as requested by Sand. Remember, this does not need to take the course of WWII. You may imitate your power's choices in any way, or just do whatever. This may end with Germany and Britain taking over America.

I'm scrapping the random number generator. Everyone, don't go ham on your enemy like in 1700. Once you get your troops in position, you can attack once and wait for your enemy to counter. Here is a list of infantry tactics, with a section on mobile infantry. (Use that one). It's not necessary, but if you are going to move troops to attack in a specific pattern, then make it accurate. ;)

Sand has the first move. At the end of each battle I'll recap th results for everyone.

OOC: Alright. We'll give it a shot. (BTW Fuhrer Sandpaw's actions and views are not my own.)

IC:

Troop movement on Germany's Eastern border begins at a frightening rate as the Mechanized War forces mobilize. Austria has peacefully fallen under German control, and ignoring the Treaty of Versailles Fuhrer Sandpaw, Dictator of Germany and Fascism Activist remilitarized the Rhineland and decrees the Slavs as a lesser people to the Aryan race. Germany declares war on the new nation of Poland eager to test its new war tactics against the Polish. After forming a pact with Russia, Germany invades Blitzkrieging its way through the Polish defenses using joint operations. The Luftwaffe begins preforming an effective bombing campaign, while the Mechanized infantry and armor divisions smash holes through the Polish lines and attack soft targets. German infantry then would crush the remaining soldiers taking massive amounts of prisoners.

Meanwhile Germany Embassy members meet with the Soviet Union, the Italian Dictatorship, The British Empire, and the Japanese Empire discussing the Axis Alliance. Knowing they were officially at war with France, and Great Britain the German Ambassadors attempt to stall the actual fighting until Germany can effectively annex Poland.
