OOC-
Okay, so since I don't want this to die, you can PP Aver.

Asher was slowly being overwhelmed by their mysterious attackers. He kicked one away, snarling. "One-Ear, I need -"

The rat who was about to leap back upon him, brandishing a javelin, was bowled over by Aver. The brawny otter used his rudder to break another vermin's neck before seizing the spear of another and running a third through. "Ye missed the best part," he yelled to Asher. "There's quite a few o' these vermin!"

OOC: Sorry to burst your bubble, Sage, but these guys aren't rats, and none of them have any weapons.

One-Ear slashed at another creature, but quickly found himself being surrounded. The fox managed to force through the rest of the things, making his way back to the others.
"Aver! Do you think you can hold these things off long enough for us to shoot that guy?" He yelled over the noise, pointing at the creature in the roof.
"Here, more swords the better."
One-Ear tossed the katana to Aver and pulled out his crossbow. Batting several mole-things over the head with it, the fox lined up a shot with the thing in the roof and fired. Seeing the bolt coming, it easily sidestepped back behind the rock.
"METTA BLOOG CRACKCHA MIIIIII!"
"It's no use. Asher, we'll need to shoot at the same time. Give it nowhere to run."

Looking up as Farden entered Bracklew stayed quiet eyeing the wildcat suspiciously. He had never seen a cat before, but pictures on Martin's tapestry had given him some impression of what they looked like. But now close up and observing him close up the young squirrel felt some natural instinct of fear twisting at his gut.

It didn't help that his paws were tied to a pole, and he was to tired to move much less run. Swallowing hard he tried to put on a bold front, laying his tufted ears flat against his head.

"Who're you supposed to be?" He asked snidely.

Taken by surprise and forced back away from the others Aver found himself fighting tooth and claw against the sudden swarm of little furred creatures. Unwilling to kill the small beasts, vicious as they were, Aver used his javelin haft and tail to deal out hefty blows sending many a mole-thing spinning through the dark tunnel. Though not aiming to kill, the otter didn't know his own strength when fighting the smaller creatures and left more then one with a broken back or neck.

Using his torch Aver smashed the dying embers into a mole-thing's greasy fur lighting it on fire. Flames flared up blinding Aver and everybeast around him for a few moments before the mole-thing went out. Taking the opportunity Aver smashed his way through the throng of beasts catching sight of Asher.

The brawny otter surged forward sending a mole-thing off of Asher's back. Smashing another with his tail Aver flinched as another bit him on the leg. Barking the otter plunged his javelin point into the mole-thing's stomach in order to free his footpaw.

"Ye missed the best part," He yelled to Asher delivering a haymaker to another foebeast flooring it. "There's quite a few o' these vermin." He grinned in battle excitement clobbering two mole-things between his javelin and torch. "If'n ye 'aven't noticed, they be bloody everywhere."

Looking over at One-ear the big otter nodded, but tossed the sword back. "Aye mate, take all the time ye need. I could use a bit o' exercise. Yeeeehah, Redwaaaaaaall!"

"You're right of course," Rayne fretted realizing how foolish she must be sounding. "I just panicked Father Abbot, I'm worried about Bracklew. He hasn't been himself lately. And he's been known for making rash decisions on a whim. What should we do?"

OOC: Let me know if I missed anything. Or messed anything up. ;)

Picking at a piece of dirt under his claw, Fardan casually replied to Bracklew. "I'm the second leader of this horde, and I'd consider yourself lucky. I'm not going to cut you up into shreds like Alfhid did."

"Go search for them, me and you, how bout?" Grant asked, closing the door to his room as he stepped out beside Rayne. "We know all too well that Aver isn't here and that the Vigil, Duncan, and Fang couldn't talk sense into anybeast...let alone somebeast like Bracklew."

Just as he said that, both Duncan and Fang rounded the corner into the hall, and the hare seemed to be annoyed with the rat for being so snarky with Seacloak.
"You can't just yell at a bloomin' badger lord, skybrain," Duncan snapped, ushering Fang forward when he halted.
The rat suddenly tore away from Duncan and cleared the distance between him and Grant in less than a second. "Oh Father Abbot!"

"What?"

"There was a--a badger at the gates, and he seemed awful suspicious! An' didya know Rapshade's gone?"

"And Bracklew." Grant said with a glance back at Rayne.
"Drowned by a badger..."

Groddil

OOC: What? "Drowned by a badger?" Umm...I don't get it :P

BIC: As Aver charged back into the fray, One-Ear tore an arrow from Asher's quiver. Batting at a few stray creatures with his crossbow, he handed the squirrel the arrow.
"Quick, load your bow. Fire on three."
One-Ear raised his crossbow, pointing it at the leader of the beasts.
"One..."

"No," Bracklew said slowly eyeing the cat untrustingly. "Well what are you going to do to me? Am I just supposed to sit here and be used as a bargaining chip? The Abbot would never open Redwall's gates just for my life you know. I am no use to you cat. Might as well just cut me to shreds and be done with it."

Rayne thought for a moment, but was distracted by the arrival of Duncan and Fang. The mouse healer listened in, her large ears twitching in concern. Suddenly her eyes lit up and she turned to face Grant.

"What of Petu?" She suggested. "He knows where Bracklew likes to hide, and he's the only animal that really seems to get to that squirrel. And Ava, she can be heavy pawed but she can always get Bracklew to listen."

A falsely benevolent smile played on Fardan's face. "Yes, I could. However, I really think that you're more valuble then you look. I can tell you won't join us, so let's just do it this way. Tell me everything you know - defenses, numbers, weapons - and I'll let you go free. That be the only time I'd spare you though. If I saw you later on the battlefield.... Bye bye, squirrel.

"What is your name, anyway?"

"Petu and Ava, of course! Ugh, that proves I'm getting old." Grant chuckled, nodding at Rayne.
"What's wrong with the two of us, Father?" Duncan asked, narrowing his eyes.
"I'm Bracklew's best friend's father and, Fang's, as far as I know, the only one Rapshade ever cared about. Surely we can help better?" He glanced at Rayne, twitching his nose.
"And who says anything about Bracklew forcing the ferret?"

Glaring defiantly at Fardan, Bracklew spat out his next words like venom. "Impenetrable, millions, dangerous." He leaned back against the pole tugging on his bindings. "So as you promised let me go now."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"We don't know what's going on," Rayne explained patiently. "But Rapshade and Bracklew are both gone, and Martin's sword was laying on the infirmary bed, and some of the ferret's medicine was missing."

"I doubt that's the truth," said Fardan. "And before you make some comment, don't forget that all I need to do is keep you alive. Don't think that just because I'm not Alfhid means that I won't hurt you. It's all up to you... Are you willing to die for your friends? Either way, they'll all be murdered or enslaved."
