One-Ear rattled off a few crossbow bolts at the mole creatures, which were just now starting to inch along the bank.
"Sounds good. I'll take up the rear."
As the three companions slowly made their way upriver, a few of the beasts had started to attack the rocks with their claws. A few disappeared down one tunnel, only to reappear further upstream in the middle of the cave's roof. The mole creatures were rolling a large rock through the passage, until it teetered menacingly on the lip of the hole. Just as Aver had passed underneath, the boulder fell through the hole. One-Ear kicked Asher forwards and jumped backwards away from the boulder just as it slammed into the river. The fox levered himself up, staring at the boulder, which had completely blocked the passageway, except for a few trickles of water.
"Aver? Asher! Go on ahead. I'll find another...oof!"
One of the mole creatures had thrown another rock, which hit One-Ear on the back of the head. The fox looked around dizzily for a few moments before falling down and being swept away by the current. The mole creatures cheered, withdrawing back into their tunnels.

OOC: Bit of PP-ing there. Also, I'm fine with the timeskip.

A shadow appeared in the light outside Alfhid's tent, silhouetted against the canvas. "Alfhid? Mind if I come in and ask your.... Nephew some questions? The squirrel won't give me anything, and I thought Rapshade would be more inclined to give me something."

When One-Ear awoke, he was lying on a pile of makeshift bedding. A lit torch had been jammed into the rocks, but other than that, there were no other signs of life. The fox reached for his blade, but it was nowhere to be seen. His crossbow, on the other hand, lay crushed to pieces near the river. He took the bolt from it to use as a shiv and wrenched the torch from the rocks. The river flowed into a small lagoon, which must have been how he had been found, before continuing down the tunnels. The fox raised an eyebrow when he saw a small raft bobbing in the lagoon, the attached rope tied around a large boulder. He was about to clamber through a passageway carved through the rock a little higher than he stood, when a hedgehog sprung out of it, brandishing a large, spiked, club. She threw the club aside and stared at One-Ear.
"Glad yer awake."
"Who are you?"
"Amaline's the name. I recognized the symbol on your tunic. Vigil, right?"
"Yes, how did you know?"
"I 'ad a run-in with a bunch of yer friends a couple days ago."
Several minutes later, after introductions had been made, Amaline nodded.
"Mm, well if ya wants t'get back t'the Vigil, there's only two ways outta this cave. Through where I came from, but then ye'd have t'fight yer way through all o' Muddle's worshipers, or down the river. I was savin' the raft t'get me 'n' Narzle out o' here, but I doesn't even know if th'river goes anywhere. 'Sides, I can always build another."
"Thank you, Amaline. Oh, and one more thing. Have you seen my sword?"
"Muddle took it. 'Ee found out about ya somehow, came in 'ere an' took it fer himself. Only reason 'ee didn't cut yer eyes out is 'cause I said it'd be funner if'n ye was awake."

With a sack full of food and water over his shoulder, and a dagger in his paws, One-Ear clung to the raft as it hurtled down the tunnel at breakneck speed. The entire river had turned to rapids, with the occasional waterfall threatening to remove the fox from his little craft. After about an hour of this, the raft shot over a fall into the biggest cave One-Ear had ever seen. It hurtled away from under his feet, sending him plummeting towards the lake below. The sack disappeared into the darkness, but One-Ear made sure to hold the dagger's sheath as tightly as possible. He crashed into the lake, spluttering as he swam towards a large island in the centre of the Grotto. Daylight streamed in from above, illuminating what looked like a colossal boulder in the center of the landmass. One-Ear had just clambered out of the water when he heard what sounded like cheers, followed by a scream as a squirrel hurtled through the hole in the roof of the cave. It struck the ground with a sickening thud, but what followed was the strangest thing. The large rock...moved. It slid across the ground towards the squirrel, until eventually it had covered him completely, muffling his screams. There was a sickening crack as the squirrel stopped screaming. The boulder eventually moved back to its original position, leaving nothing behind but several bloodstains. The voices from above cheered even louder, distinctive cries of "SHEBA!" Another voice shouted over the cheers.
"Oh look! Sheba has ANOTHER friend! How did he get in there? Who cares? SHEBA! KILL THE FOX!"
One-Ear gulped. This was going to be interesting.

Exhausted and covered in dust and mud the two survivors slowly scaled the rope onto the Redwall lawns. As he neared the surmount of the rope Aver felt strong paws grab his arms and pull him up onto the grass. A moment later Asher got the same treatment and the two warriors lay puffing hard as the Vigil gathered around them. Charm the young otter warrior was the first to speak kneeling down next to Aver, asking the question he knew was to come.

"Skipper, where's One-ear?"

Groaning Aver sat up shaking his head. "Dead, I'm thinkin', never knew no beast that could'a survive all that fallin' rock. Sorry mate, tis no good, we could'n even get th' body. Wot say ye Asher?"

OOC:

BTW who all is going to be in this search party? I'm thinking Ava and Petu straight off, maybe Duncan and Fang as well?

Oh, she isn't a boulder. You'll see.

I think you're forgetting something:

OOC: No, if there was just a Cave in and you heard that you'd assume that, that someone just got crushed. If he got cut off in mid sentence.

OOC: Ashleg must be away on vacation in Disneyland so should we put the RP on hold and await his return? Or press on?

OOC: I kind of want to keep going, but it would be nicer to wait for him...

I'll just respond to Sand.

BIC:

"I'm afraid yore right, Aver. We should probably report to Needle, he'll be in command now."

He looked around at the Vigil troops. "Where is Needle?"
