The Shade

Sandfire sniggered as the beasts broke into pairs. To him companionship was worthless. He had always been an outsider, and probably always would. He never trusted anybeast, for when he grew up nobeast has trusted him. He had had a rough upbringing. The desert cat wondered if they were going to stop for a food break. He eyed some woodpigions in the trees, but didn't use his sling, for if he hit somebeast he would be in trouble, and that was the last thing he wanted.

Xant was a little surprized that she had reached for his paw. He was even more surprized that he had held it.
Stop it. He thought.  Don't start getting attached or even get to know her. It doesn't work, every time it doesn't work.
Xant pulled his paw back from Thanora, probably faster than he should have.  "I'm Xant. Xant the Warrior is you like titles." He spoke with his eyes look away from Thanora, over at Sandfire in fact. "Why do you have vermin traveling with you?" He asked, his voice scornful.

"I wasn't the one who let them join us. Some one else got us together," She said almost abruptly.  She looked around at the other beasts "To tell the truth most of them are vermin. Me and that hare Bladepaw over there are the only woodlanders. You should be asking why they let us come. To tell the truth it was open to anybody when I said I would join I didn't know who else was going," She groaned and touched her aching head it was beginning to feel like some beast was playing a drum in there she knew should have put something on it earlier but there hadn't been any time and now it was to late.
I am back... sort of... maybe... Hi?

Raelicco might have agreed about Sandfire's sentiments on friendship had he cared at all to ask about what the wildcat was thinking. He had no interest in making friends. He didn't care about otherbeasts, and frankly, he could care less what they thought of him. He noticed some of the other beasts conversing. They appeared to want to make friends. But of course he didn't, so he just continued on his way walking through the forest.

-Sometime later, the second mate was unexpectedly rescued by the subplot, which had been trailing a bit behind the boat (and the plot). The whole story moved along.

As you continue to walk along you begin to notice a strange mixture of both fresh and stale air. You also notice that a very thin mist is just beginning to rise from the sodden earth. You also can't help but notice the bent over skeleton of a stoat...... with a missing arm.

-1 knife
-1 wooden buckler (small shield)
-1 single blade battle axe

Cedany looked at the squeleton, and spat on it with scorn. Not even looking at the rusty items she walked on ahead of Cassius. She thought him to be a queer beast, but a strange feeling moved her when his voice rang out or she looked into his eyes; she wondered what the feeling was that made her feel as if butterflies were fluttering in her stomach...

Bladepaw made his way after the badger along with the others. His head ached from those shrews.

"Next time I'll teach them a leason," he said while sharping his javelin. Seeing the skeleton he jumped back in shock. He grabbed the axe and moved on. Most beasts were talking to each other, maybe he should do the same.

Hadrim snatched up the knife. He could throw knives fairly well, and he hoped he could put this knife through somebeast, and soon. He picked up the stride of Bladepaw. He could see a slight longing for conversation, and he obliged the fact. Hadrim thought himself good at talking, and so talk he did.

"Hello! My name is Hadrim Flanderhaig the Third! What might your name be?" He asked, quite abrubdtly.
Hey you! What? Expecting a great quote or some heart-warming poem? Too bad, my signature is just boring. Stop reading it. Stop it. Why are you still reading it?

Cassius tried to read what the wildcat had written, but due to his poor eyesight, it was quite hard to.  The only words he could pick out were 'name', 'dan', 'nice', and 'you'.  He looked at the parchment again, then back at the she-cat.

"Dan?" he asked, trying to see what it said.  "Your name's Dan?"  An odd name for a female, but most names were odd, so he didn't think much of it.

Suddenly he noticed a white shape to one side of Dan.  From the smell, he guessed that it was a skeleton, but he couldn't tell what creature it used to be.  It didn't matter though, the only thing on it was something that looked like a shield.  Cas didn't like carrying shields around, so he ignored the bones and kept walking.

Staring at the skeleton for this long caused the silver fox to completely miss the fact that Dan was walking ahead of him.  But, as soon as he took his eyes off of the disgusting thing, he sped up his pace to catch up to the taller maid.  He didn't know why he did, but she seemed nice, even if it was ridiculously hard to read what she wrote.  Why didn't she just speak?

Sandfire had heard the otters scornful remark, and considered throwing a smart line back, but he could see that this would get him into trouble with both otters, so he adjusted the short cloak around his shoulder, and moved on. He saw some beasts picking up weapons from an object in front of him, and rushed forward. He was disoppointed. All that was left was a small, solid looking, targe. He clacked his now loaded sling against it, and considered picking it up, but he didn't want extra weight to carry, so he left it.

Thanora didn't look were she was going and she tripped over something. She rolled over and saw the bleached bones and the grinning face with empty eye sockets of the long dead stoat. She gave a panicked screech and scrambled away from it. She got up her hart pounding and a little shaky.  she saw that the skeleton had a shield but she already had one. Even if she had needed one she wouldn't have wanted to go near that thing again. She shuddered at the lopsided grin and the empty eye sockets which seemed to fallow you were ever you went.

Thanora turned and started to quickly walk away and trying to keep her composer. She didn't know which was worse having her back turned so she didn't know what it was doing, having its eyes boring in to her back or to face it. She sped up a little but forced her self to satay at a walk. The only thing for it was to get away from it.

When Cedany heard Cassius say her name wrong, she turned around to him and shook her head negatively. She told him(in sign language) that her name was Cedany, not Dan. She doubted that anybeast here could decipher the sign language that was foreign for most beasts, but who knew?...

Xant drew his knife when Thanora fell and rushed forward. He looked questtionly at the skelton. He looked at the shield but he didn't like shields. Thanora was already walking away so he followed her. Again seeing Sandfire he loaded his sling and fired at the wildcat. The stone clipped his ear just like Xant had wanted. As soon as he had fired he had put the sling away and pretended to have done nothing.

OOC: BTW every action you make has consequences, so make sure you don't do anything stupid (not talking to anyone in particular) BIC:

A voice echoes through the forest with the sound of a misty wraith, "Resentment and dissension among those who wish to enter my domain?.... Surely not!"

An arctic gale force wind blasts through the trees, causing everybeast to close their eyes..... Not like what they opened them to was much better. A river now surged on the right of the path, it wasn't that noticeable though considering the enraged weasels that now surrounded the group.

"Circle up! long weapons in front! Backs to the river!" The badger new all to well that the voice had been correct in describing the groups lack of companionship, and if they didn't fix it soon they'd all be dead for it!

Hadrim was first to respond. He gripped his axe, and held his knife close. He knew a good fight when he saw one, and his adrenaline began pumping. He had the i satiable urge to fight, and he was barely holding on to reality. His pupils dilated. His breath became rapid. His pulse rose. He could hold on no longer.
